The Parish Priest, St. Michael Catholic Church, Ketu, Lagos, Rev. Sebastian Ngene, has urged residents to avoid waste in this period of recession.

He spoke at the weekend, during the thanksgiving mass, for Saint Teresa of Calcuta, held at the parish.

According to the cleric, Nigerians should see this period as time for introspection on the lives they have led, adding that people should attend to only their basic needs.

Ngene admonished residents to aspire to live holy lives, adding that they should adopt the good examples Mother Teresa in simplicity and humility.

During the sermon, the Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Adewale Martins urged the congregants to imbibe the virtues of love, hope and faith, as exemplified by Mother Teresa

“Her life is a lesson that individuals can make the difference in their world and

take whatever authority they have to make the lives of others better. She taught us to take responsibility of the welfare of others, the

motive of love should warrant whatever we do and we should have a

selfless attitude to life.”
