‘Regular medical checkups vital’

Nigerians have been urged to do regular checkups to avoid last-minute breakdown or sudden death.

They are also advised to avail themselves of the opportunities provided by Rotary’s medicare as they are free for doing proper checkups.

President of Rotary Club of  Gbagada South, Lanre Akosile, gave the advice during the club’s Family Health Days at Iyana Oworo Health Centre, Lagos.

Akosile urged Nigerians to eat a balanced diet, noting that lifestyles are major causes of poor health.

Four hundred residents of Oworonshoki , he said, attended the three-day programme. He expressed satisfaction with the attendance.

Akosile noted that the club offered free screening, treatment, counselling for malaria fever, diabetes, glaucoma, toothaches, Hepatitis, HIV, and sugar and blood levels.

The club gave out glasses, drugs and food to attract unwilling residents, among others, he added.
