Remain hopeful, nation’s turnaround is near, Bishop Adelakun urges Nigerians

The Presiding Bishop of Victory International Church, Rehoboth Cathedral, Oluyole, Ibadan, Taiwo Adelakun, has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful, assuring that the country’s situation will soon improve.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Global Miracle Crusade themed “Emmanuel”, scheduled for February 2-5, 2025, at the Crusade Ground, Wonder City, opposite Dominion University, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Oyo State, Adelakun emphasized that despite Nigeria’s challenges, faith in God and the government remains crucial.

He described the interdenominational crusade, organized in collaboration with other religious bodies, as a divine mandate aimed at raising more people for the kingdom and offering solutions and salvation to humanity.

According to him, the event will feature several gospel music ministers, with adequate security, free transportation, and food provisions arranged for attendees across Ibadan.

The cleric also urged Nigerians to embrace tolerance and expressed confidence that God is set to transform the nation’s economy in a way that will surprise the world, including Nigerians.

As the Chancellor of Dominion University, Adelakun further advised political leaders to exercise fiscal responsibility and avoid unnecessary expenditures.

Bishop Adelakun said: “Everyone knows what is going on in the country but anyone can exempt themselves by their faith and believe in God.

“The choice is ours how we want to live in Nigeria. It is a question of what you believe and how you run your life. I believe that things will get better for Nigeria this year.

“Our nation needs to revalue the direction she is facing and this comes with leadership. We cannot be spending money as if we have it when we don’t. There is a need for financial re-engineering.

“God is calling us to fiscal discipline, planning, and budgeting. God said he would do a new thing. Our economy will shock the world. Something will happen to our economy soon that we will be surprised.”

He said: “There is hope for this nation. Why our young people are rushing out of the country is because they have lost hope. When you lose hope, you may take steps that you may regret later. And many of them when they get there, the reality makes them see that the land is not greener on the other side. Don’t lose hope.”

Recommending how Nigerians can cope with the situation, the cleric said “The just shall live by faith. Let us develop our faith. It is not as bad as it is been projected.

“Creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship. We have to be creative, and innovative and attract value. We can’t be doing things the same way and in the same old manner and expect a different result. But, I can assure you that Nigeria is going to turn around for good very soon.”
