Victoria Island and Ikoyi Residents Association has announced a leadership collaboration with Lagos State to address their environmental and infrastructural challenges.
The initiative was reached at a meeting with government and the association at the state house on the Marina, Lagos.
Representing the association were the Chairman, Sir Akin Fadoju, Vice Chairman, Hakeem Otiti and two former chairmen; Alhaji Femi Okunnu and Mrs. Wonu Folami. Others were Mr. Olurogba Orimalade, Mrs. Ramdat Okunola, Mrs. Katia Ekesi, Hajia Sarwi Rahaman, Princess Aduke Adeyemi and association’s Secretary, Abdul Latif Muse.
In a statement by Fadoju, it said the initiative is a commitment to foster sustainable development and enhance quality of life for residents.
“The partnership with Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, represents a shared commitment to addressing environmental and infrastructural challenges we faced. We commend his dedication and approach that aligns with our goal to create a sustainable future for the residents,” it said.

The initiative, it noted focuses on key areas as enhancing water resources management, improving waste management, promoting green urban development and maintenance of the primary and collector drainage system
The leaders said by leveraging their expertise and resources, they are poised to deliver solutions for a positive impact on the environment.
“In these challenging times, it is more important to unite for common goals. We believe by working with the commissioner, we can create a blueprint for development that addresses present concerns and future needs, ensuring that Victoria Island…” it said.
As the parties launched the initiative, the association urged residents to participate and share their observations and insight.
