Rivers to sustain empowerment programmes

Rivers State government has promised to sustain its empowerment programmes.

Chief of Staff to the governor Chukwuemeka Woke said the  Nyesom Wike administration  would enhance key empowerment  programmes.

He spoke during a luncheon for Ikwerre elders and chiefs yesterday.

Woke said: “The governor  is the governor  of Rivers State and he will reach out to all ethnic groups. So far, the governor has done exceptionally  well.

“In the next two years, more empowerment  programmes  will come on stream. This administration is focused on reaching  out to  the people”.

According to him, before  the end of the first term, more people will be reached through various empowerment packages  by the Wike administration.

He urged Ikwerrethem to sustain their  support  for Wike, promising them the governor will continue to work for the people.

Chairman of the Ikwerre Elders and Chiefs, Prince Paul Wonodi said Ikwerre leaders  must create the right environment for Wike  to deliver projects .

He urged Ikwerre leaders  to work for peace in their communities, so that the governor can work without  distraction.

Wonodi said: “We must work for peace in Ikwerre communities.  This is not a partisan affair.  We will support this administration to succeed.

“We must make sure there is peace in Ikwerre land. We need peace to ensure the governor develops our communities “.
