Members of the Diobu Vigilante Volunteer Group (DVVG) in Rivers State have arrested two suspected thieves, Musa Yahuza and Afgha Sadi, who allegedly specialise in stealing tricycles, popularly called keke in Port Harcourt.
Two other members of the gang were said to have escaped arrest.
The suspects who were later handed over to the Mile 1 Police Station confessed that they were not armed robbers, but specialists in stealing tricycles to earn a living.
The suspects pleaded with the men of DVVG to give them a second chance, adding that they were lured into the business of stealing by the other two suspects who escaped.
They noted in a pidgin language that why they were caught because they were not familiar with the terrain, “The two that ran away are our friends, they know this area. But we don’t know the area. They paid us to drive the Keke down to this place, but we didn’t know that the vigilante was targeting us.”
