S.C.U.D reflects on musical growth, influence

Nigerian-born Canadian artiste and music executive, S.C.U.D, is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated EP ‘Late Bloomer’, which is a seven-track project set for late summer 2025. 

The project marks a significant chapter in his career, showcasing his artistic evolution and resilience through a blend of modern percussion and soulful instrumentation.

The project was Produced mainly by his longtime collaborator Kaypiano, with additional production efforts from Basiqally—known for works with Fireboy DML. On the EP, S.C.U.D features tracks like “Intro,” “1000 Ways,” “Glory,” and “Sexy,” exploring themes of personal growth and perseverance. 

The project also includes collaborations with Nigerian-Canadian artistes Mitche on “Sexy” and Bolde, a new signee of Attical Sounds, on the closing song “Activate.” Off the projected was a single and a complementary music video for “Glory” which was released earlier in 2025.

Describing the project as a turning point, S.C.U.D shared, “Late Bloomer is how I say goodbye to my struggles and step into a new era, not just as an artiste but also as a music executive and culture builder.”

In 2023, he rebranded as S.C.U.D. and released the dual single ‘Attical Sounds’, featuring “Palava” and “Celebrate,” with the latter’s music video dropping on New Year’s Day 2024. The project has surpassed 300,000 streams. His summer hit “Legit,” released in July 2024, garnered over 150,000 streams and a performance video via Unreel Sessions. 

S.C.U.D. has performed at Manitoba Music’s New Music Night and opened for Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck during his Winnipeg stop on a Canada tour in September 2024. 

He also serves as a principal partner at Attical Sounds and founder of Attical Global Entertainment Services, focusing on mentorship and talent development across the independent music scene.

With his debut studio album scheduled for release in 2025, S.C.U.D continues to build on his journey of artistic growth and cultural influence.

Born on February 5 in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria, S.C.U.D. (pronounced Skord) is a dynamic artist known for his distinctive blend of rap and Afrobeat. 

He made his independent debut in 2019 with the project Southwest Vibes, gaining recognition for his innovative sound. Later that year, he signed with an entertainment label and released his debut single “Jubadi,” marking his official entry into the music industry.

Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, S.C.U.D. continued to push his creative boundaries, dropping notable tracks like “Same Lamba” in 2021 and “Nobody” featuring Mayorkun in early 2022. 

His relentless drive and versatile style have established him as a rising force on both the Nigerian and international music scenes.
