Sani’s suspension is invalid, says APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday described the purported suspension of the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central, Senator Shehu Sani, as invalid, null and void and not binding.

Vice Chairman and Zonal Chairman (Northwest), Alhaji Inuwa Abdulkadir, who briefed reporters after a meeting between the national body and party stakeholders in Kaduna State, said the right procedure was not followed in the suspension.

He said the party’s national body was in possession of a letter from the senator’s ward’s chairman, disowning the suspension.

“We wish to state here that the purported suspension is invalid and not binding and is of no effect. The right procedure was not followed, and the national body is in receipt of a letter from the ward chairman disowning the suspension and giving an insight into the matter.”

Abdulkadir, speaking after a meeting with stakeholders, said: “The meeting was to look at the challenges in the party in the state and find a solution to them.

“We met and we have discussed and I’m optimistic that better days await the party in the state.”

Senator Sani, who was part of the meeting, said the position of the party’s national body to disregard his purported suspension was not a welcome development that would strengthen internal democracy.

Said he: “The national body has called for a ceasefire and we will observe it without violation. The party’s supremacy is sacrosanct.”

Sani debunked the rumour that while his suspension saga lasted, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) considered wooing him.

His words: “I am in APC and hope to remain in APC till thy kingdom come.”
