LAGOS State Governor’s wife, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has sensitised women  groups on the poll.

Mrs. Sanwo-Olu, who hosted them at Lagos House in Marina, said there was need to educate them on use of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS).

She said: “As explained by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), BIVAS is a technology that integrates the three-stage voting process. It is an integrated device that is multifunctional, which serves as Voter Enrolment Device (VED) during registration, accreditation on election day. It functions as INEC Result Viewing Device (IReV Device) to be used for results upload.”

The governor’s wife noted that the parley was a platform for interaction between candidates and the people, thus paving the way for mutual understanding.

“… every stakeholder should be involved in the electioneering process. We must vote properly to avoid void votes, and ensure votes count. As women, we must  mobilise people to vote wisely.

“For us in Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is our presidential candidate; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and APC candidates for Senate, House of Representatives, and Assembly polls are our candidates.

“Tinubu has a track record of excellent performance in Lagos State and this will be replicated across the country when he is elected. Also, Governor Sanwo-Olu has worked for a greater Lagos of our dreams, and will do more to consolidate on the achievements when re-elected…” she said.

She urged stakeholders to avoid hate speech that can trigger violence.

There were presentations on role of women in the electoral process, facilitated by former Deputy Governor Sarah Sosan; former Head of Service, Mrs. Olabowale Ademola; Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya; and Chairman of Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Atinuke Onayiga.
