Former Senate President Bukola Saraki yesterday asked delegates and party chieftains to back his presidential aspiration for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket.
He made the appeal in Lagos when he met with Chief Bode George and some party chieftains.
The two-time former governor of Kwara State, who lamented the state of things in the country, said he has what it takes to turn things around in the country.
He said the country was in a “strait’ and therefore, needed someone with experience and exposure like him to deliver it from its woes.
He warned against making the wrong choice of the nation’s president, as that would spell doom for the country.
Saraki, who was accompanied by the former National Chairman of the PDP, Abubakar Kawu Baraje, arrived at George’s house at 4.10 pm.
Saraki also yesterday visited PDP delegates in Ogun State at the party secretariat in Abeokuta.
He said Nigeria needed the leadership model of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo to overcome the worsening insecurity and economic challenges facing the country.
Saraki, who bemoaned unemployment among youths and attributed the loss of lives in the country to the activities of bandits, kidnappers and insurgents, recalled that Nigerians were safer and economy was on upward swing during Obasanjo’s administration because of the decisive manner with which he tackled the nation’s challenges at the time.
