School inaugurates alumni building

Ex-students of New Era Girls’ Secondary School Surulere, Lagos, have completed a N32 million self-funded building which will be inaugurated on December 7.

The building project, which started on March 20, 2020, was inspired by the need to help the school raise its infrastructural profile and further enhance learning.

The president of the alumni body, Tamra Runsewe-Abiodun, while speaking at a media briefing, said the building will provide more comfort to the students and boost their academic performance.

Runsewe-Abiodun said the building project would not have been possible without the contributions of the alumni of the school.

“Work on the building continued steadily with contributions from class sets/ branches striving to provide the N1-2 million levy on each of the sets and cash donations from members.

“Even after the completion of the building, class sets/branches and individuals still went ahead to pick furniture items for the building,” she said.
