No fewer than 200 persons yesterday benefitted from a free medical service initiated by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) at Shogunle in Oshodi, Lagos.
The medical outreach, which was part of activities to celebrate the NAF’s 53rd anniversary, took place simultaneously across all Air Force bases in the country.
Residents benefitted from services such as HIV screening and counselling, blood pressure and sugar tests, malaria, hepatitis, optical and dental examination as well as outpatient pharmacy. Free eyeglasses were also given out to those who required them.
According to the Commanding Officer (CO), Pharmacy Department, Commander David Babalola, the outreach was directed by the Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar.
He said: “The medical outreach is NAF’s way to show appreciation as well as identify with our host communities, neighbours and the general public in order to shoulder their health responsibility.
“The 561 NAF hospital medical team provided medical services to Shogunle community as part of our NAF Day Celebration.
“The CAS Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar has directed that we provide full free medical services for our host community, which is in furtherance to the commitment of the CAS to enhancing Civil-Military cooperation.
“This outreach is also done specifically for the 53rd anniversary of NAF which is simultaneously happening in six NAF base across the country as a way to show our commitment and cooperation with the civil populace.”
