Olowu was nominated alongside three other top finalists for Excellence in Cyber Intelligence and Threat Hunting at the just concluded yearly award ceremony which was held at the Four Points by Sheraton, Victoria Island; Lagos.

The awards were open to all young professionals living in Africa and the diaspora; professionals in science, information technology, and cyber security, age 35 and under, and recognize any individual that has displayed extraordinary initiative contributing to the knowledge and practice in the field of cybersecurity.

Olowu has been involved in several cyber security projects across the country including a notable project which addressed the security crises in the Northwest region of Nigeria, as the conflicts between farmers and herdsmen in the Northwest region of Nigeria have unfortunately claimed many lives and destroyed properties in that region.

In partnership with the United Nations Development Partners (UNDP), Oluwatobi and his team developed a GPS-enabled mobile application called CEWERS, that citizens could use to alert security agencies of emergency incidents in their locality.

Speaking on his award recognition, he expressed gratitude to the group, he said “I’m still ecstatic and honored to have been recognized by the Young CISO network for demonstrating remarkable initiative in contributing to cybersecurity knowledge and practice.

“This acknowledgment has inspired my desire to get more involved and make a bigger impact. Bringing security awareness and education to Nigerians, Africans, and the rest of the world by fueling the ambition to scale Cyberverdict Community”.

Outside work Oluwatobi has also been very involved with Charity projects, developing websites with payment systems for Charity organisations and serving as their webmaster over the years.

With a career spanning over four years, Oluwatobi is optimistic about the growth of security in his community and through awareness projects and other forthcoming strategies in the pipeline hopes the security challenges can be reduced
