Security expert condemns killing of innocent Nigerians

A  presidential aspirant on the platform of the Grassroot Development Party of Nigeria (GDPN),  Davidson Isibor Akhimien, has decried the recent murder of  innocent citizens in Plateau State.

In a statement by his Media Office, Akhimien, who is also the National President of the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), while condoling with the families of the victims of the pogrom wondered why Nigeria should continue to witness the spill of the blood of innocent and defenceless citizens at a time the country is not at war with another country.

Akhimien said he is worried that the nation’s security agencies seem to have lost steam on how best to stop the killings.

He said: “No nation with the security agents such as we have in Nigeria would allow the murderous tendencies of these armed men to prevail”.

The presidential aspirant whose party was principally founded to advance the course of the less privileged Nigerians could not understand why some persons would want to justify the killing of their fellow citizens as a revenge for cattle rustling.

While condemning the alleged  killing of cows belonging to the Fulani herdsmen by some youths in the area, Akhimien could not find any plausible reason why such herdsmen would resort to self-help in a manner that left the entire country in mourning.

“In a sane environment, one cannot equate the lives of people with the lives of cow,” he said.

Akhimien, who served in the Directorate of Military Intelligence, among other units, in the Nigerian Army, promised that if elected the president of the country in 2019, he would strategically reposition the nation’s security forces by re-evaluating the entire national security architecture, being mindful of the federal structure of the country and the need to uphold balance and efficiency in the appointment of security chiefs.
