Senator alerts to infiltration by suspected terrorists

Senate Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Bwacha has alerted senators to the infiltration of Taraba State by suspected insurgents.

Bwacha, who represents Taraba South, said the suspected terrorists, who were driven from Adamawa State, had relocated to Taraba.

He said the insurgents, who disguised as herdsmen, were brought to the state in trailers.

The senator said he cried out to alert the Federal Government.

He said the suspected insurgents were in the central area.

The lawmaker described the regrouping of terrorists from Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states in Taraba as disturbing and dangerous, saying it should be halted.

He said: “The Federal Government and security agencies should know that they may have another war to fight in Taraba if nothing is done to stop the regrouping of these insurgents.”

Bwacha said he did not know whether the insurgents came to the country from Chad or Niger Republic.

He said taking pre-emptive action was necessary, “especially now that the Boko Haram insurgents are being chased out of the country.”

The senator said people mistook the infiltrators for herdsmen, “when they are terrorists disguised as herdsmen.”

Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who did not allow any debate on the issue, said the Senate had taken note of it.
