Senator dispels defection rumour

Chairman, Senate Committee on Trade and Investment, Mrs. Fatimat Rasaki, has dispelled rumours that she is planning to defect from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at a briefing in Ado-Ekiti yesterday to herald her empowerment programme for the people of Ekiti Central, Mrs. Rasaki also denied having a frosty relationship with Governor Ayo Fayose.

She said items to be distributed were N10 million for small and medium scale enterprises, five buses for groups, sewing machines, grinding machines, generators, freezers, among others.

According to her, the cash and empowerment materials are worth N100 million, noting that she decided to spend the amount on her constituents.

Denying the alleged disagreement with Fayose, Mrs. Rasaki said: “I don’t have any rift with Governor Fayose; we have a good relationship. “I am working in Abuja and he (Fayose) is working here but we all work together for the development of the state and Nigeria.

“I never intended to defect. My relationship with some APC senators was based on the fact that we don’t discuss parties in the Senate.

“We operate as one and we think of the interest of the nation. So, I remain in PDP and I never thought of defecting.”
