According to a recent survey led by a Nigerian psychologist, Jude Steven, sending wishes and messages to loved ones can have lasting benefits.
This claim was made in a webinar organized to assess the overall effects and benefits of sending wishes to loved ones.
The surveyed, conducted by a team that was chaired by Jude Steven, found that people who sent well-wishes to friends and family members felt happier and more connected to those individuals than those who did not send such messages.
The survey, which is set to be published in a national Journal of Practicing Nigerian Psychologists, surveyed nearly 1,000 people over the course of four weeks.
Participants were asked to rate their well-being after sending either positive or negative messages to loved ones. Some of these wishes could be created from numerous websites such as wishesgenerator.com and others.
The findings showed that those who sent positive messages experienced greater levels of happiness and connection with the recipient than those who sent negative messages.
“Our findings suggest that sending positive messages may be an effective way to promote our own well-being,” said survey lead Jude Steven.
