Seriki Chiefs file application to stop govt, others

The imbroglio between the Olubadan-in-Council and the Seriki line over the vacant stool of Olubadan of Ibadanland is yet to end.

Reason: the Seriki chiefs have filed an application before the Oyo State High Court for an order of interim injunction to stop the installation of the Olubadan designate, Chief Saliu Adetunji.

The application was filed on behalf of Chief Adebayo Oyediji, Chief Olalekan Fakunle, Chief Rasidi Abinupagun and Chief Gabriel Kofoworola by their legal counsel, Abideen Adeniran.

The application is seeking an order of interim injunction to restrain the governor, the attorney-general, Chief Lekan Balogun, Chief Rasidi Ladoja, Chief Eddy Oyewole, Chief Kola Daisi, Chief Owolabi Olakulehin, Chief Olufemi Olaifa, Chief Tajudeen Ajibola and Chief Solomon Adabale from appointing Adetunji or any other person into the vacant Olubadan stool, pending the hearing and final determination of their motion for interlocutory injunction.

The claimants sought for 21 reliefs in their application.

The reliefs include:” Declaration that after the death of Oba Samuel Odugade Odulana, the first claimant, Oyediji, should have been appointed the Olubadan of Ibadan.

“An order directing the governor to appoint Oyediji as the Olubadan.

“Declaration that there is  no Ekerin Olubadan, Ashipa Olubadan, Osi Olubadan, Otun Olubadan, Ekerin Balogun, Ashipa Balogun, Osi Balogun, Otun Balogun and Balogun chieftains in Ibadan.

“An order setting aside Adetunji’s promotion.

“Declaration that there is no Olubadan kingmaker.

“That if this interim order of injunction is not made before the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction the respondents would fill the vacancy and present the court with a fait accompli.”
