Indigenous rapper, Seriki, has lamented the neglect of Fuji music by front bearers of the genre of music as well as television stations.
Although not a Fuji musician, Seriki, lamented the lack of recognition of Fuji music by popular television stations.
“When you watch most cable TV stations’ top ten countdowns, you will never find Fuji music in that lineup and it baffles me a lot. These guys have a large fan base which I actually studied at some point in my career and it worked for me.”
The rapper urged media practitioners to do more in promoting the Fuji genre of music, which according to Steve Ayorinde, former Commissioner Lagos State, forms the inspiration for some of the leading music acts of today.
At the recently held Sikiru Ayinde Barrister Colloquium, Ayorinde argued that leading Afropop singers have at different times drawn inspiration from Fuji music.
