The Network of Clergymen in Nigeria (NCMN) Southsouth zone has backed the nomination of former Borno Governor Kashim Shettima as running mate to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The group, through its Coordinator, Pastor Joseph Francis and deputy, Apostle Odion Ebodaghe threw their weight behind the ticket in Benin.

It described Tinubu’s aspiration to be President in 2023 as divine, which would move the nation forward.

NCMN said: “That divine mandate is not complete yet until Asiwaju Tinubu enters Aso Rock as the President of Nigeria in 2023.

“Tinubu has again demonstrated that he has a full grasp of what Nigeria is and what it wants as a country, by picking Shettima as his running mate.

“Borno state is working today, because of the legacies Shettima laid that are being followed by his successor, Governor Babagana Zulum.

“It is also on record that Shettima is a detribalised Nigerian as records have shown that even as Governor, he worked with people from different parts of Nigeria, irrespective of religion or ethnic background.

“What Nigeria needs now are people who can rethink Nigeria and bring it to its needed prosperity. That is what Tinubu and Shettima’s combination represents.”

The group also stated if former Presidents and Vice Presidents, who were Christians, had performed excellently, the nation would not be in the current mess.
