The Concerned Muslim Scholars and Clerics in Southwest has organised civil reception in honor of the immediate past Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in Oyo town.
The reception, according to them, was to give kudos to Aregbesola whom they described as a good Muslim ambassador while serving as Commissioner in Lagos State, two-term Governor of Osun and Minister.
Imam Daud Tijani (Igi-Ogun), who hosted the event, said the former Minister deserved accolades considering his attainment while in government.

He noted that Aregbesola’s foot print in Nigeria, particularly Oyo town cannot be overemphasized, saying Oyo town has only three federal government establishments before Aregbesola became Minister but the town can now boast of six federal government establishments.
“He changed Oyo town to Oyo city, I’m sure if Alaafin is alive, he would have organised something like this as well. We are organising this event to appreciate him and let him know that been a former Minister is not his last assignment but should also devote his time for God,” he stressed
He however urged Muslim to be a good ambassadors, saying political leaders and appointees should always remember that they would become former office holders one day.
Aregbesola noted that Oyo is significant because the town remains the only Yoruba empire overtime and exemplar of governance with huge and remarkable fare across the world.
He said his achievements in government wouldn’t have been possible without God, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former President Buhari.
“I thank those who make the achievements which facilitated this grand reception possible, those who mentored me in Lagos, those who facilitated my emergence as governor in Osun state and Minister, if any appreciation and gratitude could be giving to me, I want to give greater gratitude and appreciation to Tinubu and Buhari.”
“Without there support, it would have been difficult for me to have single handedly achieve and attained the height in government and rendered the service to the people of Oyo.”
“These are people who assist God’s work in me, God use Tinubu for me in Lagos and Osun, God use Buhari for me in Abuja, God will ask me if I don’t remember them, ” he said.
