Spanish ceramic plant coming to Nigeria

President and Chairman of Council, Nigeria-Spanish Business Association, Isaac Dada said plans are on the way to establish Spanish ceramic manufacturing companies in Nigeria

This, he said would create jobs and reduce the level of unemployment which the country is witnessing currently.

He said the association would do everything possible to encourage the Spanish business community to come and establish factories as well as bring the raw materials to the country if they are not able to source locally.

According to him, 50 per cent of the ceramic products at the Alaba International Market are made in Spain adding that some of the traders go to Madrid and other parts of Spain to bring this product. He said establishing the factories in the country will encourage proper foreign trade between the two countries

Meanwhile, the president said the volume of trade between the two countries is 60 per cent in favour of Nigeria. He said Nigeria exports a lot of crude oil and associated carbon to Spain while Spain on the other hand exports ceramics products, sanitary wears, fishing trolley and shipping equipment to Nigeria and many other things.

He said by time this is done, there will be positive balance of trade which the country could leverage on.

Dada said the association plans to organise trade fairs whereby goods made in Spain and goods made in Nigeria would be displayed. This he said would make it possible for both countries to easily identify each other’s products in the market.

“We want to enhance business relationship between Nigeria and Spain; we the leadership of the association wants to see both economic and commercial relationship, it is the only way many Nigerians could be encouraged to join the association,” he said
