The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar yesterday urged Muslims to use last 10 days of Ramadan to intensify prayers against insecurity in the country.
The prayers, he said, should extend to an improved economy.
The Sultan, in a statement by the JNI Secretary General, Dr Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, said, Muslims should intensify prayers for relief and succour to the security and economic challenges bedevilling the nation.
“We reiterate our call to the Muslim faithful to intensify prayers for the Ummah against all manners of misfortunes, relief and succour to the security and economic challenges bedevilling the nation, particularly the unfortunate systemic Zamfara state genocidal attacks. We must intensify prayers for a hitch-free general election and disregard politicians trying to cause anarchy in the Nigerian state,” he said.
According to him, the 20th day of Ramadan ushers the start of the search of the most blessed night (Laylatul Qadr).
He said: “May Allah strengthen our faith in Him and relieve our dear country of the hard times and trying moments we are passing through, and the Muslim world in general. Nigerian Muslims are once again called upon to maximally put to use these last 10 days of Ramadan by reciting more of the Glorious Qur’an. They must use the increased rendition of the Qur’an not only in understanding it better but in living in accordance with its tenets and guidance, for the dignity of the individual Muslim and the Ummah.
“Muslims are also implored to intensify their kindness in almsgiving to the poor, the needy, the orphans and the handicapped in the society especially that many families are just living beyond the poverty line. We must pray for its overturn.
“While wishing all Muslim faithful Allah’s pardon in these sacred days and after, we pray fervently for His benevolent acceptance of our Ramadan fasting, even as we urge all Muslims never to return to abominable acts after the Ramadan fasting.”
