SUMMER TRANSFERS: Napoli set to off load Osimhen, others

Osimhen

There are indications that Napoli may have decided to settle for the exit of priceless striker Victor Osimhen as the Serie A side are ready to sell the Nigerian for €100m with Arsenal in a vantage position to grab the former Lille of France striker.

Apart from Osimhen, goalkeeper Alex Meret may be paying for his error in Napoli’s 3-2 home loss to Empoli at the weekend as Napoli is also ready to sell the goalie alongside Osimhen.

Meret will be put on the market while his contract expiring in June 2023 would not be renewed. According to La Gazzetta dello, Luigi Sepe is one of the candidates to become Napoli’s second-choice goalkeeper next season.

The Premier League seems the most likely destination, with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United interested in the Nigeria international.

Osimhen wants to play Champions League football next season, as talks with the Gunners have been put on hold at the moment. Arsenal are the club that has taken the most concrete steps to sign the 23-year-old in the summer.
