Super Eagles Supporters Club: New president Dagana vows to unite club

Newly elected president of Super Eagles Supporters Club Barrister Johnson Dagana has vowed to rally all members of the club towards unflinching support to national football teams as well as other sports in the country.

Dagana at the weekend emerged the president of the Super Eagles Supporters Club(SESC) after he was unanimously voted in the election that took place at Aris hotels in Abuja.

The Bayelsa State-born sports administrator polled 42 votes from the 42 accredited delegates to emerge unopposed in the election which took place at Aris hotels on Saturday in Abuja.

Speaking immediately after the victory, Dagana promised to raise the bar by building on the success recorded by the club in the past.

“My first missions to unite the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) across the 36 States in Nigeria,” he said. “Secondly, we need to hit the ground running by rolling out our plans to ensuring we support football and other sports in Nigeria.

“We can’t do this alone, so we will need sponsorship from private organizations and individuals as the case may be.

“So, what we will do is to begin to interface with some of these sponsors that we had before this time, to see how we can reactivate the relationships we have with them.

“As I speak with you, we are in touch with the NFF president and also the minister of sports, representatives was sent to witness this election. We are going to pay a courtesy visit to them to ensure we start to work with them to achieve success, “Dagana, the former Chairman SESC Bayelsa State Chapter, said.

Other elected national officers of SESC were Alhaji Musiliu Alao Jimoh(deputy national president);Mohammed Mohammed(national vice president north);Prince Adekunle Dare( National Vice President South-South);Stephen Ikoro Ekeh(national vice president); Abibat Arowolo( treasurer); Pastor Wilfred Akpan (financial secretary);Olutoye Orishabiyi(Public Relations Officer);Umar Muhammed(welfare officer);Chief Ejiro Okurame(social secretary);

David Etaba(chief whip) and Jonathan Joseph (Internal Auditor).

Regarded as one of the most respected supporters club across the world, one of the SESC’s side attraction crew Iyabo Afolabi was awarded the FAN of the match at the 2022 AFCON in Cameroon

While Alhaji Musiliu Alao Jimoh received the Fan Award from Orange at the just concluded AFCON Under- 20 AFCON Egypt 2023 as well as the best supporter award from Nigerian Ambassador to Egypt.
