A lawmaker in Nassarawa State Muhammad Kassim, has blamed opposition parties for the crises following the ward congresses of All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kassim said the crises, however, have emphasised the need to bring in a strong character like Adams Oshiomole, ex-Edo State governor, as APC’s national chairman.
“We believe that Adams Oshiomole would be a rescue mission for the party. We are calling on Oshiomole to study what is happening, especially the aftermath of the ward congresses and see how he can rescue the party,” he said.
He said Oshiomole should know that that the aftermath of the congresses had been hijacked by the opposition.
“They are taking good advantage of what is happening to destroy the party. With his experience, we believe the party would regain its position.
‘’We will give him support because we believe he is youth-friendly and will be a youth-friendly chairman.
“We are calling on the party structure to support him, and others in the race with him should step down and accept that he is the man that can save the party from crises,” he added.
Kassim, also chairman of Democratic Youth Congress (DYC for Buhari), said the group would still mobilise and buy nomination form for President Muhammadu Buhari.
He noted that its mobilisation has resulted in some opposition members supporting its cause.
Kassim was reacting to media reports that protests, sacking of party offices, bickering and ballot box snatching characterised the congresses on Saturday.
One person reportedly died on Friday in Rivers State.
