Suspected robbers kill homeless man in Edo

Suspected robbers have beaten a homeless old man to death in Ugbor, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State.

Head of the deceased was smashed with a stone and there were visible signs that he was beaten to death.

His body was found in front of a make shift store.

Residents of the community said the deceased used to do menial jobs for survival and slept in uncompleted buildings.

They said they don’t know from where he came to the community.

Owner of the store where the deceased was found, Patience Emuze, said her daughter came to open the store Wednesday morning when she found the body.

She said she knew the deceased but does not come to her shop to buy things.

As at press time, policemen were seen taking the body away in police hilux van.

A policemen who pleaded anonymity said the deceased may have been killed by robbers who might not want him to disclosed their identity.
