No fewer than 15,000 households in Oyo State will benefit from the first batch of palliatives by South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA).

SWAGA National Chairman, Sen. Dayo Adeyeye, said the palliatives were not meant for only All Progressives Congress (APC) members, but also for everybody, to cushion the effect of hardship being experienced by Nigerians as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

Speaking yesterday in Oyo town at the distribution of the palliatives, Adeyeye said Oyo was a special state for SWAGA because the group was formed in 2020 in Ibadan, which, according to him, was the capital city of Southwestern states.

He said the palliative was to thank Oyo people for their support and commitment towards the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the target is to ensure the palliatives get to the poorest of the poor in 15,000 households in the state.

“We are starting with Southwest. By next week, we should be in Kogi, Kwara and the North Central. From there, we will go to other places. This is the first round; there could be second round and third round of the palliatives.

“Our target is to reach out to between 10,000 to 15,000 households. Although the palliatives can’t go round to all Nigerians, there are other oganisations that will still do the same, but I’m happy that we are the first organisation besides the government to offer palliatives across the country after the emergence of President Tinubu.”

“People should be patient with the government. Things were really bad before Tinubu’s emergence, but the process to revive Nigeria has begun. We have begun to see great signs of progress. This is why world leaders have recognised President Tinubu due to the good decisions he has taken on behalf of Nigerians.”

Speaking on behalf of the APC Chairman in Oyo State, Alhaji Muritala Olomi said APC members in the state are behind Tinubu.

He urged members not to relent in their efforts to support APC and Tinubu.

Some of the beneficiaries commended the effort of SWAGA, saying it would assist them, “particularly at this period of economic hardship.”
