On the forthcoming general elections, Adamu said he was going to build up on the strategies put in place by the outgoing IGP to ensure a hitch-free electoral exercise.

The Ag. IGP, who was accompanied to the villa by the outgoing IGP, also pledged to maintain neutrality and to be fair to all while carrying out his official duties before, during and after the general elections.

“Adequate arrangement has been made to make sure that free and fair and credible elections take place in Nigeria.

“We are going to build up on the strategies put in place to make sure that we have hitch-free elections in the country.

“We are going to stick by the rules, we are going to do the right thing. We will not go outside the ethics of our job to do things that are untoward, everybody will be given level playing ground to play his or her politics,’’ he said.

The outgoing IGP, who also addressed the correspondents after the decoration of the new IGP by the president, announced his retirement from service.

  • No voting with temporary voter card- INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ), says no voter will be allowed to vote with the temporary voter card, in the forthcoming general elections.

Prof. Francis Ezeonu, Imo Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), made this known at an interactive meeting with religious bodies- members of the Christian and Muslim communities in Imo, on Tuesday in Owerri.

He noted that the smart card reader which would be deployed for the elections was structured to read only the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) which has special features embedded on it with the voters’ personal information.

Ezeonu, therefore, enjoined all who are yet to get their PVCs to go to their different wards from Jan. 16 to get their cards in order not to be disfranchised.

“The smart card reader is expected to read the permanent voters card and once it could not read any card, the person will not be allowed to vote,” he said.

Ezeonu said the interactive meeting with the religious bodies was part of INEC’s move to reach out to all segments of the society to brief them on the progress so far and get suggestions from them for a free, fair and credible elections.

He explained that 2.27 million voters were registered in Imo with over 630,000 PCVs yet to be collected.

He urged the stakeholders to sensitise their members as INEC staff would visit the 305 electoral wards between Jan.16 and Jan. 21 to distribute the PVCs, adding that Feb. 8 is the last day for the distribution of the PVCs.

On smart card reader malfunctioning, he explained that the Registration Area Technicians had been trained to regularly monitor the card readers and put them back to work as soon as possible.

He said a form known as Form 60 E where each result of the election would be written would be pasted on the wall of buildings or trees for all to have access to, adding that all ballot papers not used would be cancelled immediately after election.

Speaking, the representatives of the religious bodies advised INEC to ensure there was no problem between the collation of the results and transmission.

They equally suggested full accreditation of voters before voting as against the simultaneous accreditation and voting stipulated by the electoral umpire.

The Chairman, Muslim Council of Nigeria, Imo Chapter, Mr Yusuf Nwoha urged INEC to ensure it matched its plans with action- effective implementation- as well as spend money on sensitisation and encouragement of the electorate on PVC collection.

“Imo at the moment is tensed up. The probability of miscreants fomenting trouble and disrupting the election progress should be checked. No election is worth the blood of any human being. INEC preparation is good, the problem is execution,” he said.

Nwoha also advised INEC to check fake observers, malfunction of card readers as well as step up its operational strategy.

Rev.Fr Innocent Osuagwu, who represented the Bishop of Owerri Archdioceses, Archbishop Anthony Obinna, enjoined the commission to ensure its staff exhibited some measure of uprightness during the election.

NAN reports that the meeting had in attendance various heads of the different religious bodies in Imo.

  • 2019: Ganduje kick starts guber campaign

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has kick-started his gubernatorial campaign in Doguwa/Tudun Wada federal constituency, where hundreds of thousands of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gave him a resounding reception at the campaign ground at Tudun Wada.

Impressed by the turn out, he expressed his satisfaction and showed how encouraging the turn out was, adding that, “This shows how satisfied you are with the way we are developing the state and how President Muhammadu Buhari is also developing the country.”

He urged people to always compare the state of the nation before 2015 and now, after President Buhari is captaining the ship, challenging that, “It is very clear for all, that President Buhari’s coming to power from 2015, saves Nigeria from collapsing.

That is why we are still saying, he alone, among all other presidential contestants for the 2019 Presidential election, has the capacity to further develop our fatherland, Nigeria. We should give him another chance to continue with what he started. We all believe that continuity is the answer.”

He commissioned a power project at Gada Biyu town, of Tudun Wada local government, that before now plunged the area in total darkness, with some other projects like bridge among others. The governor assured the people that his administration would continue to deliver the good work it has been doing.

For the citizens to reflect back to the good things done to the areas, the governor reminded them of the many developmental projects also executed by the local governments, other federal government’s intervention in the area and some other projects done by both federal and national legislators as part of their interventions for the development of their areas.

Ganduje urged people to come en mass during the forthcoming election and cast their votes for Buhari, reminding them that, “I urge you to always remember, we promised to give our President Muhammadu Buhari, about 5 million votes. We should try and get this through our full participation at election time.”

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is taking Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to Wards across the nation. I am calling on people to make sure that they go and collect their PVCs. It is only when we have our voters cards that we can be able to support the coming back of President Buhari for the second tenure,” Ganduje pleads.

Followers of Kwankwasiyya political group, 6,700 in number, within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) followers of the former governor Engineer Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, dump Kwankwaso group and joined the APC, courtesy governor Ganduje.

They described their joining of the ruling APC as timely and all-important. Assuring that, they would always work hard for the victory of the party at all levels.and are encouraged on what Buhari and Ganduje are doing for the development of the state and the country, in general, is open and clear for all to see.

After receiving a gift of a bag of rice, from Farmers Club under Sani Sarkin Noma, as a show of their appreciation on how Ganduje agricultural policies boost agriculture in the state, the governor commended Buhari for initiating a policy which abhors importation of rice to the country.

Nigerians, according to him, should first and foremost, commend Buhari for encouraging economic diversification largely through agriculture and other sectors of the economy.

“At the state level, we found it necessary to copy from the federal government’s initiatives. That was why we did our possible best to reinvigorate our fertiliser plant, that was abandoned for over two decades.

As I am making this speech here, our Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) is fully operational with unprecedented capacity. That we even take our fertiliser to other neighbouring states.

Fertiliser is no longer our problem in Kano now. We have since passed that stage, where you will see government distributing fertiliser to farmers. We have it in abundance and we take it to other states,” he explains.

Governor Ganduje urged traditional rulers of both Doguwa and Tudun Wada, to give their helping hand in seeing that peaceful election holds during the forthcoming elections. “As fathers of the land, yours should always be finding ways to encourage peace and tranquillity before, during and after elections.”

He made the call when he visited the District Heads of Doguwa and Tudun Wada at their respective palaces. He also urged them to inform their communities on the importance of collection of PVCs for the election ahead of them.

“Awareness creation campaign from the fathers of the land is necessary. So that full citizens participation in the election can be recorded as well,” Ganduje insists.

  • 2019: Atiku promises youths, women 70% appointments

Presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar on Monday promised to run an inclusive government with 40 percent of youth and 30% of women accommodated in his cabinet if elected.

He also stated his commitment to provide create jobs, security and resuscitate the weak economy to a vibrant one.

He spoke at the PDP campaign rally in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, assuring Ekiti people he would not abandon them like the ruling party has allegedly done.

Atiku said: “The good people of Ekiti state, APC has stolen all your jobs, now they want to steal your votes.

“They did it in Ekiti and Osun, Ogun, Bauchi, they even stole in Kastina where they come from. I don’t know why they have to steal in their home.

“This state has always been a PDP. When we paid a courtesy call to Ewi of Ado, he said he wants us to build the roads. We will complete all federal projects not completed, we will restore standard and quality education, so we can give you jobs.

“APC don’t know how to create jobs and don’t know how to give you 40 percent of our portfolios will go to youths while 30 percent will go to women and that is 70 for youths and women.

“We know how to do it and we have done it before we will do it again”.

The Director General of Atiku Campaign Council, Dr. Bukola Saraki urged youths to vote Atiku, saying he will give you jobs as he has given millions through his private business.”

“There is no story, youths are the future, a leader has to make fulfilled promises but Buhari promised you jobs, security and to fight corruption, has he fulfilled his promises?

“No! Atiku is a man who knows how to create jobs, secure the country and also fight corruption.”

Speaking at the campaign rally, the former governor Ayo Fayose urged Nigerians to reject the APC, saying the party has ruined the economy and made life difficult for the downtrodden masses to live.

“In Ekiti we will deliver, he that the gods will destroy, he will first make to run mad. That is the case of the current Federal Government but PDP will deliver Nigeria from their poverty and misrule”, Fayose said.

The National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Idris Ibrahim, to desist from actions that can plunge the nation into unnecessary chaos by attempting to subvert the mandate of the people in the forthcoming general elections.

Secondus, who expressed optimism his party would win the presidential poll on February 16, added President Mohammadu Buhari has failed to fulfill his promises of job creation, fighting insecurity and surmounting the challenge of corruption because he is too weak to rule a complex country like Nigeria.

He added that Nigeria needs a president that is energetic and ready to work 24 hours a day and not the one that would work for three hours.

  • Buhari supported Ortom’s anti-open grazing law – Presidency

The Presidency has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari supported the anti-open grazing law in Benue enacted by administration of Gabriel Ortom, the State governor in 2017.

The Presidency made this known in a statement by Garba Shehu, the President Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity in a reaction to what was alleged to be Governor Ortom hate campaign against President Buhari.

The Benue anti-grazing law came into force on the 1st of November, 2017, which seeks to prohibit open grazing by herdsmen and prevent further clashes between herdsmen and farmers in the State.

According to the Presidency, the governor has been visiting churches in the state where he falsely tells congregations about President Buhari’s so-called plans to Islamise Benue State.

The statement reads, “the Presidency calls on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State to desist from basing his campaign for re-election on falsehoods concerning President Muhammadu Buhari and instead focus on the dire issues confronting the State” .

“Governor Ortom’s campaign is clearly one designed to stir division and hatred, and to divert the people’s attention from his inability to pay staff salaries and pensions for several months”.

“It has been noted that the governor has been visiting churches in the state where he falsely tells congregations about President Buhari’s so-called plans to Islamise Benue State” .

“This nonsense has formed the basis of his campaign, because he has nothing to offer Benue people”.

“The allegations coming from Ortom were particularly unfair, when one considers how much support the governor received from the Federal Government, which supported his grazing laws as a means to end the farmer-herder crises that have plagued the state”.

“If not for President Buhari’s insistence that the governor be given a chance to effect the law, he would have faced resistance from different sources and found it difficult to implement” .

“While advising Ortom to immediately stop his dubious attacks on President Buhari, the Federal Government calls on the people of Benue State to not fall for Ortom’s deception and allow themselves to be hoodwinked by such a negative campaign”.

“They should instead, ask him why he has refused to pay staff salaries and pensions for months, and what he did with the funding from the excess crude account which should ideally have gone towards addressing such payments” .

  • Oshiomhole: PDP deceived Igbo for 16 years

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole,  yesterday  accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  of deceiving the people of the five Southeast states  for the 16years it held sway at the Aso Rock Villa.

Oshiomhole, citing the inability of the PDP to fix Southeast roads during its years in office, said most of the  same highways have now been made motorable by President Muhammadu Buhari in only three and a half years.

Speaking in Umuahia at the flag off  campaign of the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Dr.Uche Ogah, the APC chair said: “The Igbo made a mistake in 2015, they should not make the same mistake twice.

“In 2019 on the 16th of February, everybody should compare the darkness of 16years and the light that they are beginning to see under President Buhari under  three  and a  half years. The choice will be yours to make.

“You must elect all the senatorial and House of Representatives candidates.

“The road network s  in t he Southeast were nothing to write home about in the 16years of PDP in the country.

“The more the PDP broke the ground for the second Niger Bridge, the more the bridge became  weaker.

“But Muhammadu Buhari ,without changing his name to Azikiwe, is doing great things in the construction of the second Niger Bridge.

“Under the PDP, PDP farmers started growing cassava on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.Today, President Muhammadu Buhari ,without changing his name to Azikiwe or Ebele, is rebuilding that road. Many days for the liars, 2019 for the man of truth.”

He urged Abians to vote out the incumbent governor,  Okezie Ikpeazu and replace him with Ogah, saying Ikpeazu has failed workers in the state by not utilizing the Paris Club refunds to pay their salary arrears.

He said: “as a former president of the NLC, I know that the primary purpose of government is the welfare of citizens. And you cannot lay claim to public welfare when you are treating your employees as slaves.

“The incumbent governor of the PDP collected Paris fund refund and President Buhari told him to go and pay my people in Abia State.

“Ikpeazu, how do you sleep when your workers are not being paid? He collected the Paris fund refund twice and ended up diverting the funds.

“We are here to win. When Uche Ogah wins, he is going to provide progressive governance. That is why we are in business. We want to measure how much impact that we have made in the lives of the people.”

Oshiomhole  presented Ogah, his running mate,Mr. Martin Azubuike and the APC senatorial candidates; former governor of the  state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, and Sir Marc Wabara for Abia North, Abia Central and Abia South senatorial Districts respectively to the people.

Also speaking, Dr. Uzor-Kalu urged Abia people to vote out PDP and enthrone a committed government.

He said:”when I was Governor,  salaries were paid promptly. There was free education. I built this stadium. Today our university is dead. T A Orji wasted eight years and left Abia this way. We will make a change.

“We will elect Buhari with 70 percent votes. We will elect Ogah. He is   a business man like me. We will pay salaries and pensions. No new roads in Aba and Umuahia 12 years after I left. Today no road leads to Abia because of people like Ikpeazu.”

  • Why Buhari doesn’t need to campaign in Adamawa – Governor Jibrilla Bindow

Adamawa State Governor, Senator Mohammad Umar Jibrilla Bindow, is seeking re-election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). On Tuesday, he formally received the party’s flag to contest the 2019 poll, at the official launch of his campaign. After the campaign flag off, he spoke with a group of select journalists on his plans and why he believes that President Muhammadu Buhari will defeat the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in his home state. TONY AKOWE was there.

You have flagged off your campaign, what next?

Have flagged off now, we are going to start our local government campaign. Before then, we will zone the state into three segments and start within the zones. We have already established acampaign council in each of the zones and have already inaugurated them to campaign for the President, the governor and all other candidates of the APC. By Monday, we will start going to the local governments and to continue what the zonal campaign teams have started already. Basically, this is what we are going to do having inaugurated and flagged off the campaign. You saw that the flag was given to us and l will now go round to give members of the assembly and other persons their flags.

During the flag-off, you did say that President Muhammadu Buhari does not need to campaign in Adamawa State and you know that this is the home state of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Don’t you think there is a challenge?

Yes, as a former senator, not only that l was opportune to be in the Senate, l was also the Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Defence and l knew how this area used to be in terms of insurgency and the way our people were suffering and what have you. I was almost the de factor chairman because the chairman didn’t like coming to the North East because of Boko Haram. He is from Rivers State and he was not comfortable coming here. Honestly after President Buhari was sworn in and we started seeing what he was doing in terms of fighting insurgency, the commitment of the President in fighting Boko Haram is what everybody here must commend. Before now, they (Boko Haram insurgents) used to go in thousands to capture villages, towns and what have you and for your information, they even captured my own local government, Mubi, the second largest town in the state. Some people will tell you that Mubi, in terms of population, is even bigger than Yola but Boko Haram almost captured that place for 14 days and at that time, the Chief of Defence Staff, Badeh, who is now late, is from there. He was in service and they captured that place and even changed the name of Mubi to Midinatumhanji Islam but immediately the President came in, before you could say anything, things started getting better and not only that, we in the state collaborated with the military and with the local hunters in the entire process. The local hunters really helped us.

This Boko Haram thing, honesty up till now, nobody has told me the real objective of this struggle that they are doing. For me, it is just a bunch of International criminals that are trying to terrorise everybody because they would go and burn churches, burn mosques, kill children, kill women, break into banks and commit all sorts of crimes. So, what is it about? It has nothing to do with religion. There is no any religion that says go and kill women and children and something like that. Basically the President has done very well and even with the IDPs that were left with us in Adamawa. When we came in, we had about 25 IDP camps and out of the 25, l will tell you that 95 per cent of the contents of the IDP camps were not from Adamawa State, so we had to close some because we came at a time the IDPs were used by some criminals to collect money from international agencies, that they have NGos and they would come and snap children and you would never see them again; they would just go and do something else. We say no, this must stop. We don’t want to say we have IDPs and it will stop us from developing Adamawa. So, we try to send those IDPs back. Those from Adamawa were taken back to their communities and those from other communities, mainly Borno, we tried to talk to the governor to take them back and from there as far as Adamawa is concerned, our security, generally, is stable and everywhere is calm.

Are you saying that there is no chance for the former Vice President who is the ‘son of the soil’ to defeat President Buhari?

We want to campaign based on issues. On fighting the insurgency, President Buhari has done a lot of things in terms of community development in the state. There’s no road today in this state, federal roads, where work is not going on. You can go and verify it. From Yola as you are going to Mubi, you will see contractors working. From Mubi to Maiduguri, people are working physically now. You can see it. From Yola to Gombe, one Chinese company is also working. From Numan to Taraba, they are on site. From Mayo Beluwa to Jada, which is where Atiku hails from, that road has been there for over 20 years, nobody has done the road. That road, Jada – Ganye – Tonga, has produced Vice President Atiku; Bamanga Tukur, the former PDP National Chairman, he is from Jada; PPS to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Hassan Tukur; the former Comptroller General of the Nigeria Custom Service (NCS) is from there. Many personalities that could have done that road are from there. So, will you go and tell those people, not to vote for Buhari? This road is going on. They have seen development and change in their own lives. So, by the time we say ‘go and vote for Buhari’, they will do it. I hope you understand what I’m saying?

The fact is that we can campaign based on issues. I don’t talk on anything personal. For me, it’s not politics. Once you start personalising things, then you are not a politician. I don’t want to be part of that kind of uncivilided thing. We want to campaign based on issues. Even in the state, if not because the President is helping us by bringing the Paris Club refund and all sorts of things, we wouldn’t have been able to build all the infrastructure you are seeing. So, when we say vote for Buhari, they will vote. You will see Buhari winning Adamawa very clearly at the end of the day.

I want to take you back to the issue of Boko Haram you just talked about. Your counterpart in Borno State, Kashim Shettima, wept at the Aso Villa when he took stakeholders to President Buhari. Would you say the government has done enough in view of the current development since there was an initial claim that the group had been decimated?

With the word ‘enough’ that you used, they have done more than enough. If you have said they have eradicated Boko Haram, I will say no. But whether they have done enough, I will say they have done more than enough. That is what I just told you. Before, towns were taken over. But since Buhari came, no single town, no matter how small it is, has been taken over by Boko Haram. You never see them moving in groups engaging in guerilla and suicide attacks. They may be looking for soft targets like markets where people are gathering and release bombs, killing people. But taking over villages and towns like before even in Borno, the case is now different. So, the President has done wonderfully well. Nobody can deny that, especially anybody living in the North East, particularly we that are in the front line states – Adamawa, Borno and Yobe. Before, if they tell you to come to Adamawa, you will not come because of the perception that there is Boko Haram. If they tell you that there was a time when Boko Haram operated here, even if you go to where they had reigned, you won’t believe because people have already assimilated into the community.

In Adamawa State, we are now safe by 95 per cent. The only local government that is under military watch is Madagali that shares border with Gwosa and Cameroon because there are mountains around there and that is where some of Boko Haram men are  hiding. Let me tell you, my own belief is that the remnants of Boko Haram are the locals. Like Madagali that I mentioned, it is their children who were in Boko Haram before, who are now back terrorising their own people. While looking for food, they will come, terrorise the people they know and rush

  • Buhari has performed well in South-East, says Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), said on Friday that President Muhammadu Buhari had done substantially well for the South-East to deserve the people’s massive support in the February polls.

Oshiomhole said this at a rally in Umuahia to formally handover the party’s flag to the governorship candidate of the party in Abia, Chief Uche Ogah, as well as the state and National Assembly candidates.

He said that Buhari’s developmental strides in the zone in less than four years of his administration was enough to prove his critics wrong.

He listed the reconstruction of Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressways, the construction of the Second Niger Bridge and completion of Late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe’s mausoleum in Onitsha, as some of the president’s achievements in the area.

The party’s national chairman therefore urged the people of the zone to vote massively for Buhari’s re-election.

He admonished them not to repeat the mistake they made in 2015, when they allegedly voted against APC.

He further charged them to vote for Ogah and other APC candidates in the polls to ensure the rapid transformation of the state.

He described Ogah as a product of self-effort, industry, creativity and enterprise.

He said, “Ogah is self-made. He is not coming into government to steal your money.

“I’m happy that in Abia we had a direct primary that produced him. It was transparent. I’m proud of him.”

Also, former Gov. Orji Kalu, who is the Abia North Senatorial candidate of APC, said that Abia would give Buhari 70 per cent vote in the Feb. 16 election.

He berated the Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu led-administration for allegedly failing to utilise the state’s resources to transform the state.

Orji decried the poor state of infrastructure in the state, saying that Abia had not witnessed any meaningful development since he left office in 2007.

He expressed the hope that Ogah as a businessman would replicate his success story in his private business in governance, if elected.

In his speech, Ogah, an oil merchant, promised to make the people of Abia happy when elected.

“Abia rejoice! Your light has come and the glory of God has risen upon you,” he said, amidst loud ovations from his teeming supporters at the Umuahia Township Stadium, venue of the rally.

Ealier, Chief Donatus Nwamkpa, the state Chairman of the party, said that APC painstakingly chose credible candidates for all the elective offices in the state.

Nwamkpa assured the people that an APC government would put an end to the sufferings of the people and salvage the state from many years of economic underdevelopment. (NAN)

  • 2019: Firm develops app to monitor elections

Kaduna based computer firm, Hephzibah Integrated Technologies Ltd, has developed an application that will help in monitoring and tracking order of activities during and voting process during the 2019 general elections.

Managing Director/CEO of Hephzibah Integrated Technologies Ltd, Engineer Clement O. Obomighe disclosed this when unveiling the application at a press briefing in Kaduna.

He said the application was developed to ensure that electioneering procedures as outlined by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is been observed diligently at every polling unit across the country.

According to him, “Our application cannot enforce the law, but can expose breach of the law,” said Obomighe.

He explained, that the application will make statistics on the conduct of elections very easy and instant, as it works with any android or IOS phone.

Obomighe added, that his company has been seeking active ways to develop APPs to support government policies, part of which includes the conduct of free and credible elections.

According to him, “the application was developed from what somebody muted to us, by an observer group which approached us. But, for some reasons they chickened out and we went through sponsoring it from the scratch.

“We noticed that in the past, capturing activities during cities was haphazard. This app will make it well managed, well captured according to INEC order.

“We had developed it according to 2015 order of activities. When the new INEC chairman came and changed it, we changed it again. We then went back to the drawing board to make it flexible.

“Nobody knows if officials at any polling unity had omitted any activity. There is a process, if missed it should be captured by the election monitors, polling unit by polling unit.

“Even after the polling unit, at the collation centre there are procedures which must be followed. When procedures are not followed, it should be captured by the monitors. Not following procedures, gives room for rigging.

“We decided to present the APP to the public, Nigerians so they can see it. That’s why we are here today. We are not oblivious of the fact that we may be behind time ahead of the general elections, but are optimistic that it will help.

On why INEC has not adopted the application, he said: “the electoral commission were approached but they couldn’t adopt it, because they don’t know if we are sponsored by a political party or candidate. But, on the contrary, our application is not to spite INEC; we developed it to ensure credibility of the election process.

“We will be monitoring the data, If we notice any increase, we will increase database size, we have signed agreement with cloud storage which increases, we have paid upfront for that.

Speaking on how the application would work, Obomighe said, they have set up a system that helps to generate report format.

“Reports produced by observers or party agents can be substantiated with evidence which can serve as forensic evidence in courts,” he said adding that they decided to create definite report format.

“Different accurate statistical facts can be gotten from a simple query of data base. Party agents or observers presence and efforts can be monitored. The app is geo locationally locked and can’t be used in another polling unit.

  • 2019: APC needs no violence to win, says Tinubu

*’Atiku failed to help Lagos when Obasanjo seized LG allocations’

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) does not have to engage in violence to win the forthcoming elections,Co-chairman of its Presidential Campaign Council, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu said on Friday.

Tinubu who was responding to allegations from certain quarters that the APC was preparing ground for violence during the elections said those making such allegations were already sniffing their defeat at the polls.

He said the cries of violence were also indications that those making the allegations had already conceded defeat even before the first ballot was cast in the election.

The APC leader spoke to reporters after a meeting with traditional rulers from the South West in Abuja.

The traditional rulers were led by the Ooni of Ife,Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi

Tinubu said neither the party nor its presidential candidate,Muhammadu Buhari, wanted any Nigerian to a victim of violence during the elections and therefore did not need any form of violence to win the election.

The APC,he pointed out ,was working hard to win the elections while those alleging violence were busy looking for excuses for their impeding defeat.

On his meeting with the obas,Tinubu said: “the royal fathers spoke of the need for a peaceful election. When you have the belief that you can get a proper result, you work hard because you want peace.

“When you believe that you can win, you don’t want violence. We all love our children, our brothers and our followers and none of us would want our followers to become sacrificial lambs. “We won’t encourage violent disruption of any election because we are confident of winning. Those who are crying wolf before the election have already accepted defeat before the election as far as I am concerned.

“I am very happy and proud of the very promising situation. When you have the endorsement of your royal fathers, it means you have the people with you and the voice of the people is the voice of God. I am elated.”

The APC Leader appreciated the royal fathers for their support and for not giving up on the APC and for visiting the President to encourage him.

Taking a fresh broadside at Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP Presidential candidate,Tinubu said he (Atiku) did nothing to help Lagos State as Vice President when the Obasanjo government seized its local government allocations , but merely asked them to go and comply with Obasanjo’s directives.

He said: “Atiku was Vice President of this country when the local government allocation for Lagos state was seized.

“When we led a protest to Atiku then, he said ‘go away. Go and comply.’ Without the allocation, you cannot bring development.

“When we said we needed power to power Lagos and the industrial base in our region, they said no.

“They were taking away N250 million from our allocation every month for being innovative and creative.

“Everywhere we turned, they rejected us and punished us. But we never gave up.

“Today, we are in that progressive development championed and led by President Muhammadu Buhari. Thank you for not looking back. Thank you for visiting and encouraging him.”

Tinubu also spoke on his reported collapse on Monday after the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

His words: “Fake news and whoever is manufacturing it, you better not believe them.”

He also described as negative and fake news, reports of alleged boycott of the campaign council by APC governors.

He said:“The point is: the governors had to stay back home because we all don’t have to converge in one place to decide certain modalities when we can easily go back to them on what was discussed and what we expect from your state. That is what we call structuring in an election. There are some jellyfish reporters around Nigeria these days.”

At the meeting, Oba Ogunwusi said as royal fathers, traditional rulers would, therefore, continue to preach peace and peaceful coexistence.

The Oni said :“My message to Nigerians in this time of election is peace, peace and peaceful coexistence all the way.

“The power of every Nigerian and every electorate lies in the thumb.

“As traditional rulers, we are fathers to all and in playing that role, we pray that there should be peace in this country.

“ That is what we are preaching and it is very important to all of us to know than Nigeria is greater than any of us. So, we should continue to preach peace and identify with good things that will be beneficial to the nation. That is why we are here.”

The traditional rulers who had earlier visited the President also included the Alake of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo; the Alayemore of Ido Osun, Oba Aderemi Adedapo; the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade; the Ayangburen of Ikorodu Oba Kabiru Shotobi; the Olukare of Ikare Akoko, Oba Akadiri Momoh 1V, and the Oloye of Oye Ekiti Oba Michael Oluwole Ademolaju Adugbole III.
