Preparations have been finalized for the ceremonial kick-off of the 2025 edition of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President’s Pre-Season Tournament, officially titled the GUSAU/AHLAN CUP.
The tournament will begin in four days in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State. According to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), 16 clubs are set to participate, with matches scheduled to take place at the Lafia Township Stadium. The opening ceremony will be held on Friday, August 1.
Tournament Coordinator, Abahuraira Dahiru, confirmed that host teams—Nasarawa United and Basira FC—are already in Lafia. The remaining 14 participating clubs are expected to arrive on Thursday, July 31.

The official draw for the tournament will take place the night before the opening, at the Nasarawa State Football Association secretariat.
Dahiru also announced that the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, will perform the ceremonial kick-off. The opening event will be attended by prominent figures in Nigerian football, including NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, NFF board members, State FA Chairmen, and other key stakeholders.
He assured all participating teams and fans that comprehensive arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth and enjoyable tournament experience.
