I almost removed ‘With You’ featuring Omah Lay on ‘5ive’ album – Davido

Afrobeats star Davido said his hit song “With You,” featuring Omah Lay, almost didn’t make it to his album “5ive”.

In a recent interview on American News Television ABC, Davido revealed that he considered removing the track from the album, which would have been a huge mistake since it became the biggest hit from the project and one of the biggest Afrobeats records of 2025.

“It almost didn’t make the album… Every time I remember I almost took it off the album, my heart starts beating.

“Shout out to Omah Lay. I am glad we were able to collaborate on a true African classic,” the multi-award-winning superstar stated.

The song’s success has proven to be a wise decision, and Davido has praised Omah Lay, calling their collaboration a “true African classic”.

The song has been a highlight of Davido’s ongoing 5 Alive tour, with a memorable performance at the Scotia Bank Arena in Canada drawing a rousing response from the audience.

The tour has been a huge success, with Davido recently celebrating the sell-out of 12 venues across North America.

Davido releases anticipated album “5ive” in March

Afrobeats superstar Davido has officially announced the release of his fifth studio album, “5ive”, scheduled to drop in March 2025.

This album marks a significant return for Davido, following the immense success of his previous albums, “A Better Time” (2020) and “Timeless” (2023).

The album’s second single, “Funds”, featuring Odumodublvck and Chike, has already generated significant buzz.

The track’s innovative sound, which samples Brenda Fassie’s iconic 1997 hit “Vuli Ndlela”, showcases Davido’s ability to blend traditional African music with contemporary Afrobeat energy.

Davido expressed excitement about the project, stating that “5ive” is a reflection of his journey and promises to be a special project for his fans and African music.
