    I introduced 9ice to his wife but I didn’t get a wedding invite – Ruggedman

    Veteran rapper, Michael Ugochukwu Steven, popularly known as Ruggedman, has revealed that 9ice declined to invite him to his wedding, despite Ruggedman being the one who introduced him to his wife, Toni Payne.

    Ruggedman shared that he received a call from 9ice’s ex-wife on a particular Saturday, informing him that it was their wedding day and that 9ice had instructed her not to extend an invitation to him.

    The rap star disclosed these details during an interview with popular media personality Chude Jideonwo.

    He said: “I introduced 9ice to Toni Payne but 9ice didn’t invite me to his wedding with her.

    “One Saturday morning, I woke up to a call from Toni Payne. She was like, ‘Ahn ahnn! Where are you now?’ I said, ‘Where am I what? I am at home.’ She said they were getting married that day. I asked her why didn’t she tell me and she said she wanted to but 9ice said she shouldn’t tell me.”

    Recall that 9ice and Toni Payne broke up 10 years ago after the singer accused his wife of having an extramarital affair with Ruggedman.

    The altercation resulted in both 9ice and Ruggedman releasing Diss tracks, with Ruggedman vehemently refuting the allegations.

    The reports later surfaced that the music stars reconciled and settled their differences.

    Popular indigenous singer Abolore Adigun, better known as 9ice, shared that he had aimed to become a lawyer, but unfortunately, he did not meet the cut-off mark for JAMB UTME.

    9ice, in an interview with Iyabo Ojo, said he could not get into school to study law because he had multiple failures in Jamb.

    He added that he came from a family that was not supportive of a music career.

    He said: “I have always wanted to be a lawyer until now. I spent almost six years JAMB go jam me, I go write another one. This one go say I no meet up cut off mark, I go do another one. Because the family I came out from, you cannot be a musician.”

    When asked if he regretted not becoming a lawyer, he replied: “I cannot regret it because I am still on it. I must do it, probably not to litigate at a firm, but I can be an entertainment lawyer.”

    Singer 9ice bags chieftaincy title in Ogun

    Famous singer, Alexander Abolore Adegbola Akande, popularly known as 9ice has been conferred with a chieftaincy title in Ogun state.

    The award-winning musician broke the exciting news on his Instagram page and shared a few photos.

    He said he is now the “Amuludun of Ijofin Kingdom” which means the “Chief entertainer of Ijofin kingdom.”

    9ice thanked the king of Ijofin Kingdom for honouring him with a chieftaincy title and also pledged to continue supporting Nigeria. His words:

    Singer Abolore Akande popularly known as 9ice has underlined the impact of legendary Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo Kuti on the Nigerian music scene and internationally.

    He acknowledged in an interview with ‘Sis Project Studios,’ that the iconic ‘Abami Eda’ laid down the platform on which every Nigerian musical act hinges to thrive in their career.

    Well-known for his powerful use of the Yoruba language in his music as well as his proverbial lyrics and unique style of delivery, 9ice lauded Fela’s dedication to Afrobeat in contrast to his peers who were experimenting with different genres in the quest for their stylistic identities.

    He referenced Fela, King Sunny Ade, and Ebenezer Obey as grandfathers of Nigerian music, expressing joy for the privilege to emulate them.

    “We were trying to do Afropop. We were trying to do Afrobeats. We were trying to do different names. But Baba Fela already has something that the world recognised.

    “Afrobeat taught me a lot. King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, and Fela Anikulapo-Kuti are our grandfathers. And I’m glad to be in existence to emulate or to follow what they’ve done.

    “My first experience with Afrobeat is not what I’ll share with you today. But if you think Fuji is the only street; I’ll tell you today that Afrobeat is the street.”

    Why I fell out with 9ice 14 years ago, says ID Cabasa

    Popular Nigerian music producer and singer, Olumide Ogunade popularly known as ID Cabasa, has broken silence over what transpired that led to the fall out between him and his former signee, 9ice.  

    Cabasa, during a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, said 9ice was upset by his decision to continue working with the latter’s ex-wifee, Toni Seun Payne.

    Payne managed the artists under Cabasa’s Coded Tunes Record, a label that housed her estranged husband at the time and rapper, Olamide.

    Cabasa’s decision to continue working with Payne following the couple’s messy breakup did not sit right with 9ice, who eventually severed ties with the producer.

    According to the producer, he kept Payne in his team, because of 9ice, and he stressed that he did it for him.

    He said: “When I started pushing Olamide, you notice I brought Toni Payne, 9ice was angry but, he had no idea why I brought Payne in.

    “I brought Payne in because I needed to keep Payne and Zion close to 9ice.

    “I had my networks. Mr. Kupuloyi was my publicist. If I need anyone to move my artists around, I can find someone but I saw Payne and I noticed she wanted a reconciliation.

    “I felt if she takes Zion abroad, 9ice may never see his son.”

    The fourth child of singer Abolore Akande who is more known as 9ice, Michelle Abolanle Akande, clocked five on August 15, 2019, and the proud father took to his Instagram to share the photo shoot of the day.

    The singer, turned politician captioned one of the pictures thus, “Proud To Be A Father! I’m sure your mum is too. You’re 5 today with So Much Potentials. Your ability scares me but I pray God Almighty Allah guides and keeps you for us! hbd my #loveylovey.”

    News of the birth of 9ice’s fourth child with a third baby mama, Sunkanmi Ajala, surfaced in 2014.

    9ice’s other children include 6-year old son, Zion, with his ex-wife, Toni Payne, and a set of twins from his Abuja-based baby mama, Victoria Godis.
