    Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated the queen of box office, actress Funke Akindele, for shattering box office records with her movie, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’.

    The Nation reported that the movie has set a new record by hitting N1bn sales. 

    Posting on X, Atiku said the movie not only broke the record but also stands as a beacon of cultural pride and unyielding of Nollywood.

    Congratulating the actress, Atiku said: “I extend my heartiest congratulations to Funke Akindele for the phenomenal success of “A Tribe Called Judah”.     Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson, known for his lover boy roles in movies, has responded to critics questioning his skills after starring as the lead actor in the top-grossing Nollywood film.

    The actor shared this on his Twitter where many netizens have claimed he is not really a good actor.

    Many people believe he has always played lover boy or spoilt kid roles and that is where all his relevance comes from.

    Funke’s ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ has garnered one billion, sixty million, seven hundred and eleven thousand, four hundred and ninety-one naira (N1,060,711,491), at the box office.

    The actress, known for her exceptional talent took to her Instagram page to express her gratitude and amazement at the overwhelming support from both Nigerian and Ghanaian audiences.

    In a statement that reflects her speechlessness over the remarkable feat, Funke Akindele wrote: “Thank you, LORD. Thank you NIGERIA!!!! Thank you GHANA!!!!”.

    The Nation reported that the recent Nollywood film has achieved a remarkable feat by grossing over 1 billion Naira within three weeks of its release.

    This unprecedented success places the movie as Nigeria’s highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time, surpassing all expectations and previous records of Funke Akindele.

    In a post via X on Thursday night, Jide Ekene, who played the role of Emeka in the movie as Funke’s first son, expressed excitement over the massive milestone.

    Sharing the update from Wikipedia, the actor wrote: “According to the Numbers; Allow me to reintroduce myself; LEAD ACTOR; HIGHEST GROSSING FILM EVER in this parts of town. I am JIDEOFOR EKENEDILICHUKWU ACHUFUSI”

    Funke’s movie is the fastest movie to hit one billion at the box office, the highest-grossing film of all time, and the highest-grossing Nollywood director of all time.

    There has been wild jubilation online as Nigerians took to their respective social media pages to celebrate Funke Akindele’s milestone in the movie industry.

    According to Wikipedia, the box office line-up asserts that Funke Akindele has made a whooping one billion, sixty million, seven hundred and eleven thousand, four hundred and ninety-one.

    Presently on the Wikipedia Nollywood grossing table, Funke Akindele’s movies, A Tribe Called Judah, Battle on Buka Street, and Omo Ghetto The Saga are respectively the highest-grossing Nollywood films of all time.

    According to the box office chart, Funke Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah, Toyin Abraham’s Malaika, and Mercy Aigbe’s Ada Omo Daddy are respectively the highest-grossing screening movies.

    The Nation reported that in 2021, Funke Akindele broke another record in the Nigerian film industry.

    She beat her records for the highest-grossing film at the Nigeria box office.

    A post shared by Film One revealed that Funke Akindele’s Battle on Buka Street, broke the record of her 2020 released film, Omo Ghetto The Saga.

    Battle on Buka Street netted 640 million naira at the box office, beating Omo Ghetto the Saga of 636 million naira.

    Filmone on Instagram noted that the only competition the actress had was with herself.

    Seasoned Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, has broken her previous record as her latest cinema release ‘A tribe Called Judah’, hits N854 million gross in less than a month of its release.

    The Nation reported that the movie star’s film circulated the cinemas from December 15, 2023 as has since been making waves with a very large margin away from her previous records.

    The flyer stated that the movie had grossed N854 million and is currently the highest-grossing film ever in the history of movie production in Nigeria.

    While expressing appreciation to Nigerians, Funke Akindele said God is running it.

    She wrote, “Na God dey run am!!!”

    The latest achievement has sparked reactions from Nigerians as they commend Funke.
