    Again, Obesere goofs

IF you are a lover of Fuji music or a fan of top Fuji musician, Abass Akande, aka Obesere, you would have probably seen the imposing poster of his new release on VCD at record shops all over the place.

In the new work titled “No Rapping”, he sang about his recent rape saga, involving a 28-year-old businesswoman, Olanike Olaiya.

However, what will strike any educated fan is the seeming emptiness, and confusion in the title of the new release. Out of sheer overzealousness, Obesere left one totally confused about his intention and even the message he wanted to pass across to his fans, particularly because of the usage of the word “Rapping” in that context.

Evidence that he wanted to absolve himself of the allegation is clearly stated on the poster: “Japata Night… Ema fi enu ba irawo mi je… Rapping ba wo.”

Since the report broke out a few weeks ago, Obesere has been assuring his numerous fans that he will give a blow-by-blow account of the unfortunate incident in an album. He has even announced that he will soon produce a movie that will chronicle his ordeal for the viewing pleasure of his fans.

But if the title of the latest work, No Rapping, is anything to go by, then, he might simply have only rapped as he did in his song, Jaforie, featuring singer Reminisce. So, he might probably need to urgently produce another album with a meaningful title that will clearly express his intention, which is that he didn’t rape Olanike, as alleged.

Rape Scandal: I’ve stopped bleeding, says Obesere’s mistress

Olanike Olaiya, the woman allegedly raped by Fuji musician Abass Akande, a.k.a Obesere, has said that she has stopped bleeding – about two weeks after crying out for help.

Olaiya said though she had not fully recovered, she would not speak on the issue any more.

In an interview with Encomium Magazine, Olaiya, who said she cooked for the artiste on the fateful night, was quoted to have said: “In the middle of the night, he came to me and demanded sex.

“Despite being clever, I fell that night. He raped me. Not only that, he also inserted a ring in my private part. That was why I started bleeding.  Even as I speak to you now, I just stopped bleeding.  I am not okay yet.  But I thank God that their plan to sacrifice me for wealth has failed.”

When asked why she had gone into hiding and refused to appear for investigations at the Adekunle Police Station, Panti, Yaba, Lagos Mainland, Olaiya said: “They knew what they did to me. They begged me to forget everything, but I refused.  I also refused to go to Panti again because I suspected that the man handling the case is Obesere’s friend.  All I know is that the truth shall prevail. But I thank God I am alive.  God will judge the three of us.”

Meanwhile, Obesere has concluded plans to shoot a movie on the rape saga.

The artiste is said to have written a script about the incident and is contacting artistes who will fit into the characters. It is not yet certain if the musician will be playing the lead role, but prominent artistes will feature in the movie, according to sources.

Unconfirmed reports said that about N20 million had been budgeted for the movie.

The musician was arrested by the Police in Lagos for allegedly raping the 29-year-old businesswoman at his Okota, Lagos residence, an allegation which the artiste denied.

The victim said she was in Obesere’s house to discuss a business matter on the night she was allegedly raped.

Obesere didn’t rape Olanike, says victim’s relation

In Ibadan-based woman, Mrs. Bola Okoro, has described as untrue the allegation by Miss Olanike Olaiya that popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande, a.k.a Obesere, raped her during a visit to his Okota, Lagos home.

Olaiya had alleged that the popular musician advised her to sleep in his house on that fateful day when she went to seek his assistance about her business.

However, in an interview with The Nation in Ibadan on Saturday, Okoro explained that she had been responsible for the upkeep of Olaiya and her daughter, Folawe, for over five years.

She added that Olaiya had earlier revealed her plans to blackmail Obesere. According to her, “I warned her not to try such a thing and I thought she would heed my advice. Obesere is my business partner and I introduced Olanike to him, so he could help her in her business. I didn’t know she had an evil intent. She was with Obesere on Tuesday when she called me that she was coming to Ibadan to check on her child the following day. But I told her to hold on because I was coming to Lagos for a meeting. She came to meet me at the venue of the meeting. There was nothing wrong with her until we got to Ibadan. But Obesere called me that Olanike said she was bleeding, so I should take her to hospital.

“When I asked her what happened to her, she told me that she needed money and that I should join her to defraud Obesere. But I refused. She said she needed N10million. So, I was surprised to know that she later went to Lagos and reported the matter at the Okota Police Station.”

Okoro, who further alleged that some people were backing Olaiya to tarnish Obesere’s image, also said “Her real name is Morenike Kikelomo. I offered to take her in after her parents sent her out as a result of her undisciplined lifestyle. I have known Obesere for over 12 years. He is a responsible and kind-hearted individual who cannot hurt a fly. I wonder why he would stoop so low to rape or use a girl for ritual when so many girls out there want to have him.”

Alleged rape: Obesere is being blackmailed-Victim’s friend

A new twist has been added to the alleged rape case involving fuji music artiste, Alhaji Abass Akande (aka Obesere).

Mrs. Bola Okoro, the woman who is alleged to have introduced the victim, Ms. Olanike Olaiya to the musician has described the allegation has a blatant lie.

Olaiya, aged 29, had accused Obesere of raping her when she slept in his house located at Okota area of Lagos.

But refuting Olaiya’s claim at The Nation’s office in Ibadan on Saturday, Okoro claimed that she has been responsible for the upkeep of Olaiya and her daughter, Folawe, in her home for over five years, adding that Olaiya had earlier revealed her plan to blackmail Obesere in order to collect N10million from him.

She said, “I warned her not to try such a thing and I thought she would take my advice. Obesere is my business partner and I introduced Olanike to him in order for him to help her with her business without knowing she had an evil intent.

“She was with Obesere on Tuesday and she called me that she was coming to Ibadan to check her child the following day, but I told her to wait that I am also coming to Lagos for a meeting and she came to meet me in the meeting and there was nothing wrong with her till we got to Ibadan. But Obesere later called me that Olanike said she was bleeding and that I should take her to the hospital.”

Continuing her narration, Okoro added, “When I asked her what happened, she told me that she needed money and that I should support her plan to collect N10million from Obesere. But I refused. She later proceeded to Lagos to report at the Okota police station that she was raped.”

Alleging that her friend’s real name is not Olanike, Okoro claimed that Olanike’s real name is Morenike Kikelomo.

Vouching for Obesere’s innocence, Okoro added, “I have known Alhaji Obesere for over 12 years and I can say he is a responsible and kind hearted individual who can-not hurt a fly. I wonder why he would stoop so low to rape or use a girl for ritual when so many girls are out there who want to have him.”
