I remain in APC- Sen. Boroffice

Sen. Ajayi Boroffice, representing the Ondo North Senatorial District in the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday, said that he had not joined another political party as being speculated.

Borffice made this clarification in a statement made available to newsmen in Akure by his media aide, Mr Kayode Fakuyi.

“Few days ago after a successful APC stakeholders’ meeting in Akure, a plot to link Sen. Boroffice to another party in Ondo State was hatched; the plot is diversionary.

“The senator remains a chieftain of the APC in Ondo State and has not at anytime resigned his membership of the party nor at any moment joined another party,’’ Fakuyi said.

“As a grassroots politician and one of the founding fathers of APC in state, if he has any reason to join another party, it will attract statewide rallies and political carnivals.

“The evolution of the APC did not start with the 2016 governorship primary election in the state.

“It started in 2011 when Sen. Boroffice, as the only elected member of the Action Congress of Nigeria ( ACN ) in Ondo State, mobilised fellow progressives to build the progressive family in the state,’’ he said.

Fakuyi advised the citizenry to disregard any false report that the senator had left the APC, saying it was untrue.

“On the circulated letter, which purportedly appointed the deputy chairman of our party as the acting chairman, the letter is fake.

“Mr Isaac Kekemeke remains the state chairman of the party,” he said.

“If there is any allegation against the state chairman, the allegation should be investigated.

“Only the National Executive Committee of the party has the power to sack the state party chairman and appoint an acting chairman.

“It is on record that the NEC of our party has not considered the matter and has not taken any position on it. Any letter seeking his removal is fake in its entirety.

According to Fakuyi, Boroffice reaffirms his confidence in the state chairman of APC in Ondo State.

He said, “about 75 per cent of the party’s followers have declared support for the state chairman and no outsider can impose any pro-tempore chairman on our party.

“The letter, which purportedly appointed the deputy chairman as the acting chairman is fake.

“The well-attended meeting held on Nov. 27 deliberated on a number of issues and made far-reaching resolutions.

“Stakeholders passed a vote of confidence on Mr Isaac Kekemeke-led State Executive Committee ( SEC ) of the party and reiterated support for the APC-led Federal and Ondo State Governments,” he said.

However, Mr Abayomi Adesanya, the state party spokesman, told us that the investigative committee did its work thoroughly and invited the former chairman three times but he refused to turn up.

Adesanya said the hearing was open and transparent, adding that the national leadership of the party wrote and approved the Acting Chairman of the party, Mr Ade Adetimehin, pending the final resolution of the issue.

Kekemeke was suspended by the State Working Committee ( SWC ) of the party on June 1, 2017.

The suspension arose from a division in the party, occasioned by the outcome of the last governorship primary election, which produced Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu as the party’s flag bearer in the last governorship election.

Appeal court’s judgment has corrected ‘executive rascality, impunity’ – Olanusi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) says Appeal Court’s nullification of impeachment of Alhaji Ali Olanusi, a former Deputy Governor in Ondo State,  has corrected “executive rascality and impunity in the state”.

Mr  Abayomi Adesanya, the APC Publicity Secretary in Ondo State, in a statement in Lagos on Tuesday described the judgment as “victory for democracy”.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure on Friday, March 24, annulled the impeachment of Olanusi as the Deputy to the immediate past Governor of the state, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.

The judgment came two years after Olanusi was impeached by the State House of Assembly.

The three-man panel, led by Justice Mohammed Danjuma, directed that Olanusi’s salaries and entitlements be paid from April 27, 2015, the date he was purportedly impeached, to Feb. 24 when his tenure expired.

In the79 page-judgment, the judges said Olanusi was not given fair hearing during the impeachment process.

The APC Publicity Secretary said the nullification of the impeachment by the court had corrected “executive rascality and impunity of the immediate past government in the state’’.

He called on the former Deputy Governor of the state, Mr Lasisi Oluboyo, who replaced Olanusi, to immediately refund all monies, salaries, entitlements, privileges and vehicles received as a deputy governor.

“We advise the former and illegal occupant of the office of the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Mr Lasisi Oluboyo, to refund all monies accrued to him, either as salaries or allowances while illegally occupying the office of the deputy governor.

“Oluboyo should also honourably return all government’s vehicles and properties at his disposal to the state government,” Adesanya said.

Akeredolu will fulfill all electoral promises, says APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State on Wednesday reassured residents that Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) would fulfil all his electoral promises.

The APC reiterated this in a statement in Akure by its Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Adesanya.

Adesanya promised prompt payment of workers’ salaries, job creation through industrialisation and agricultural revolution as well as peace and stability.

Reacting to the advice by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) against creation of new local council development areas, Adesanya said: “Akeredolu will fulfill all electoral promises.”

PDP had warned the governor against his proposal to create new local council development areas out of 18 local government areas promised during Akeredolu’s electioneering campaign.

Adesanya stressed that there would be creation of local council development areas as promised by Akeredolu during campaign.

“Contrary to what played out during the last administration, APC-Akeredolu is poised to steer the state’s affairs in the right direction and also deliver the true dividend of democracy to the good people of Ondo State,’’ he said

Adesanya berated PDP for leaving behind a whooping debt of about N150 billion, eight months unpaid salaries of workers and several months of unpaid allowances and gratuities of pensioners.

“What moral justification has Ondo-PDP leadership to advise APC-Akeredolu’s government?”

“We view your advice as anti-developmental and evil against the people of the state.

“It’s a clear attempt to derail our government so as to create bottleneck and distraction for Akeredolu.

“The former government has no useful ingredient at its disposal to complement the efforts of this current administration,” he said.

APC urges INEC to conduct Ondo by-election

ALL Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the by-election for the Odigbo State Constituency.

The seat became vacant in the State House of Assembly following the death of its representative and former Speaker of the State Assembly, the late Samuel Adesina.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Adesanya, accused the ruling Labour Party (LP) for the delay in conducting the by-election

It noted that the State Assembly, which is populated by LP lawmakers, ought to have notified INEC on the death of the former Speaker, following which the electoral body would conduct the election within the stipulated three months.

Odigbo Constituency is the only local government populated mostly by non-indigenes from Osun and Kwara states.

The state APC Chairman, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke, has also urged Nigerians to ensure peace in the country to guarantee stability.

He gave the charge in Ore, headquarters of the local government while leading other state executives to worship with Islamic faithful at Ore Central Mosque.

Kekemeke called on the Muslim communities to work assiduously for the success of the APC during the coming election.

He stressed that APC, as a progressive party, would put their interest at heart and ensure they enjoy the dividends of democracy being denied them by the ruling LP.

The Chief Imam of Ore Central Mosque, Alhaji Ismail Olurimisi, offered special prayers for members of the APC officials and the success of the party in August 9 election in Osun State and in next year general election.

  • APC demands Ondo’s financial accounts

    APC demands Ondo’s financial accounts

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has urged the state government to account for its spending since it assumed office.

In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Prince Abayomi Adesanya, APC said: “It is inevitable and sacrosanct to ask the Governor Olusegun Mimiko administration why it has not told the people how much has accrued to the state’s purse and how it was spent since inception of the administration.”

It said past administrations gave monthly financial account to guarantee transparency.

The APC urged Minister for Finance Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN); the Revenue and Remuneration Fiscal Commission and other authorities in charge of revenue allocation to states, local governments and the Oil Derivation Funds to make public the amount that has accrued to Ondo State from the Federation account since February, 2009, till date.

It lamented that since the Mimiko administration assumed office over five years ago, it has not rendered any financial account.

The APC said: “How much accrued to the state’s purse from the Federation Account from February, 2009, to May, 2014? How much was paid to the 18 local government areas from the Federation Account from February, 2009, to May, 2014?

“Ondo State is an oil producing state. How much has it received as 13 per cent oil derivation funds from February, 2009, to May, 2014?

“Is the 13 per cent derivation paid directly into the state’s coffers or into the account of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC)?”

The party urged the government to answers these questions and keep the people abreast of the state’s financial situation.
