    Ikorodu traders get interest-free loans

    Philanthropist and chieftain of All Progressives Congress, Abdulkareem Shittu, has empowered traders and artisans in Ikorodu, Lagos State, through the fifth edition of his foundation’s interest-free loan aimed at supporting small businesses and promoting grassroots economic growth.

    The event brought together beneficiaries and community leaders, who lauded the initiative for easing the burden of traders unable to access loans from conventional banks.

    Speaking at the event, Shittu reaffirmed his commitment to uplifting residents through sustainable empowerment.

    “This is more than just a loan scheme; it’s a movement to restore hope and build economic independence. When you help a trader, you empower a family and strengthen the economy of communities,” he said.

    Since inception, the scheme has expanded in Ikorodu division, offering interest-free financial support to traders, artisans and young entrepreneurs to boost their businesses and sustain their livelihood.

    Beneficiaries described the intervention as life-changing.

    A food vendor, Mrs. Monsurat, said the support helped her restock her business.

    “My business was collapsing, today, I can restock and even employ one helper, Shittu is truly God-sent,” she said.

    Another beneficiary, a young tailor, praised the initiative for providing relief.

    “Getting a loan without interest is something we never imagined possible. This programme has brought hope to many of us,” he said.

    The foundation’s interest-free loan initiative has become a hallmark of community empowerment in Ikorodu, positioning Shittu as an advocate of inclusive growth and people-centred development.

    Foundation distributes foodstuffs, cash to Ikorodu residents

    Philanthropist and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Abdulkareem Shittu, has disbursed ₦7.5 million to residents of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency during the second edition of his foundation’s empowerment programme.

    The event, organised through the Abdulkareem Shittu Foundation, drew a large crowd as beneficiaries received business grants and direct cash support.

    Thirty small business owners received ₦250,000 each to expand their enterprises, while about 1,000 participants were given ₦5,000. Shittu also distributed food items to all attendees and donated 30 chairs to APC ward offices to strengthen grassroots political activities.

    Grateful beneficiaries praised Shittu’s commitment to uplifting the community, describing the initiative as timely and impactful.

    “This is a lifeline at a time I needed it most,” said one of the beneficiaries, Abidemi Ajumobi.

    The Director-General of the Abdulkareem Shittu Foundation, Muhammed Hassan, commended Shittu’s personal sacrifices in funding the scheme and assured residents that more empowerment initiatives would follow in the coming months.

    Philanthropist, Abdulkareem Shittu, has reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots empowerment through distribution of food items and financial support to residents of Ikorodu Federal Constituency to mark 2025 Ileya festival.

    The initiative brought in many beneficiaries.

    Shittu, All Progressives Congress (APC) member, gave 10kg bags of rice to constituents as part of his outreach efforts.

    In addition to the food distribution, he disbursed N5,000,000 to 10 selected individuals, with each receiving N500,000 to support their small businesses. The gesture was well received by beneficiaries, who described the intervention as timely and impactful.

    A recipient, Isiaka Yahya, expressed gratitude on behalf of the group. “This financial support will boost our businesses and improve our livelihoods. We promise to support him in all his causes for good governance and good dreams for Ikorodu,” he said.

    Another beneficiary, Mojisola Salami, hailed the former lawmaker for his support. “Shittu’s kindness and generosity are inspiring. We are blessed to have him in our community,” she said.

    Oluwasheun Ige also praised the initiative, saying: “This financial support comes at a time when we need it most. We are grateful for Shittu’s vision for Ikorodu.”

    The empowerment was organised under Abdulkareem Olugbenga Shittu Foundation, which has spearheaded projects in the area. The foundation also runs a zero-interest loan scheme, which has supported small-scale entrepreneurs.

    Speaking at the event, Director-General, Hassan Muhammed, commended party loyalists for their dedication. “We are moving forward, and we will continue to make a positive impact in the lives of our people,” he said.

    Other supporters, including Mr. Lukmon Busari and Mr. Kazeem Shittu, highlighted Shittu’s record of service and described him as a dependable leader committed to the upliftment of Ikorodu.
