  • Kwara monarchs endorse Abdulrazaq

Traditional rulers in Irepodun local government area of Kwara state on Wednesday threw their weight behind the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq ahead of the March 9th governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections.

The monarchs said this in Ajase-Ipo, ancestral headquarters of Irepodun local government area.

Mallam AbdulRazaq resumed a fresh campaign tour of the southern senatorial district.

Speaking on behalf of Olomu of Omu Aran, chairman of Royal Council in Irepodun, AbdulRahm Oladele Adeoti, said: “We started the APC revolution here in the south and there’s no going back. You are going to win a landslide victory in the election.”

Abdulrazaq said that his administration will be fair to all segments of the state.

“Our government won’t discriminate against any section of Kwara. We’ll share jobs and appointments fairly,” AbdulRazaq said at the palace of Alofa of Iloffa, Oba Samuel Dada where several traditional rulers in the region met him.

The candidate presented copies of his manifesto to the traditional leaders and community leaders.

Urging Kwarans to give him a chance to serve them, AbdulRazaq said his administration will open up the rural areas for development to boost investments in agriculture, agro-processing factories, provide employment for youths and halt rural-urban exodus.

He promised to rebuild public schools and hospitals, strengthen entrepreneurship and small scale businesses in a bid to boost internally generated revenues.

AbdulRazaq also pledged to accord utmost respect to the traditional institutions and ensure that local government areas are allowed to serve the grassroots.

“But to do this, we urge you to vote for APC. We don’t want to be in the opposition in Kwara. We have a lot of great programmes for our people. Importantly, we won’t disrespect our traditional institutions. We will honour our royal fathers,” he said.

“We’ve had enough of bad governance and the bleeding of public resources. O TO GE. Let’s try something new and different. Our opponents have run out of ideas. We’ll bring development. We’ll take special interest in the security of lives and properties. At the moment, there’s hardly any functional banks from Ekiti to Offa.

“Where there’s no banking institution, development will be hard whether you are into saw mailing or agriculture,” he added.

The tour had seen him visit Ekiti, Isin, Oke Ero and Irepodun local government areas of the state.

He also made a campaign stop at parts of Ifelodun and Irepodun local government areas on Wednesday.

Abdulrahman frowns at condition for Kwara Utd return

Kwara United head coach, Tunde Abdulrahman has called on the management of the Harmony Warriors to review the condition stipulated in the letter indicating his suspension has been lifted which says he must win their next two away matches against Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars to keep his job.

Abdulrahman told SportingLife that the conditions attached to his return stated in paragraph 3 of the letter sent to him and dated

August 19, 2015 is not only demeaning to the football profession but also an affront on the contractual agreement he has with Kwara United.

The former Kano Pillars and FC Taraba head coach told SportingLife that he would be willing to return to his duty post  today but that he does not accept that condition as expressed in the letter where his suspension was lifted.

Abdulrahman said some issues must have to be ironed out before the club start given ultimatum when the factors responsible for his suspension has not been sorted till now.

He told SportingLife:” I wish to clearly state that I am totally committed to returning to my duty post ‘immediately’ as directed by

you. However, the conditions attached in paragraph 3 of your letter wherein I am expected to miraculously win two (away) matches by all means as security for my job, is not only demeaning to the football profession but also an affront on the spirit and letters of my contractual agreement with Kwara United FC and therefore not acceptable.

“I must reiterate that football results are a reflection of a multifarious inputs from management and other critical stakeholders to assist the coach. It is blatant deviation from this that has been the basis of my complaints since assuming duty. It is against this backdrop that I will like to state that the interest of the team will be better served and my reinstatement will not be deemed a dangerous ambush to tarnish my professional reputation.”

He further gave conditions for things to work very well in the club:”

Guaranteeing my personal security and those of the players and match officials is key. I should be given freehand to professionally review activities of the team within the period I was away from the team with a view to suggesting measures for improvement. I will also like a meeting of all stakeholders be conveyed to trash out various issues ranging from internal bickering, accusations, reservations, complaints and counter accusations which was responsible for my initial suspension.”

SportingLife recalls that Kwara United management under General Manager, Haruna Maigidansanma indefinitely suspended Abdulrahman on July 13, 2015 before the suspension was lifted on August 19,2015.

Abdulrahman: Kwara United not under pressure

Former coach of Wikki Tourist, Tunde Abdulraman, has stated in clear terms that his team, Kwara United, isn’t under any form of pressure to perform.

The Harmony Warriors started the 2014/2015 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season on a positive note, picking up points on the road and securing maximum points at home, but things took a different turn when Heartland FC of Owerri left Ilorin with maximum points, leaving their host Kwara United to sulk over the 1-3 loss.

In order to redeem their image, the Harmony Warriors left for Ibadan with hope of securing a point against 3SC but instead got their problems compounded but their manager, Tunde Abdulraman has insisted that his team isn’t under pressure to perform.

“We were flexible today and you could see that there’s a little improvement from the NPFL week 5 home loss to Heartland,” Abdulraman told SL10.ng.

“To improve, we’ve got to give more players that opportunity to express themselves. As the understanding in the team gets better we shall build a formidable team. I made some changes to the team that started in Ibadan because some players didn’t meet up in the home loss and that’s how I’ll continue with the team till we get the right mix,” said Abdulraman.

Abdulraman, who guided Wikki Tourist back to the NPFL, gave kudos to the league organizers while he noted that the officiating has been commendable.

I must commend the League Management Company (LMC). Officiating in the league so far has been commendable but the series of away wins have not put any sort of pressure on my team after all we opened the flood gate of away points when we drew away at Dolphins of Port Harcourt,” Abdulraman stated.

  • Abdulrahman targets promotion

Wikki Tourists’ head coach, Tunde Abdulrahman has reiterated that his major priority at the end of the season is to guide the Bauchi-based team back to the Glo Premier League.

Wikki got relegated at the end of last season alongside 3SC, Kwara United and ABS but the four demoted clubs are striving to make a return to the elite division after only a season in the lower league.

The Bauchi side are presently on top of the National League A with 18 points from nine matches and the rejuvenation of the club can be attributed to the ingenuity of Abdulrahman who had steered both defunct JUTH of Jos and FC Taraba to the premier league from the lower league.

Wikki surprised all with an away win in the first match of the season at Jigawa Golden Stars and they haven’t looked back ever since with additional five wins to race to the top.

Speaking with SportingLife in a brief interview, coach Abdulrahman disclosed that Wikki are still taking shape and that he has emphasised on staying focused and maintaining consistency as keys to their premier league return.

“We are just doing our bit. These are still early days in the league but it is good that we have started very well to let our rivals know that we are not in the National League to play away our time. We belong to the Premier League and that is where we shall get to at the end of the season.
