Entrepreneur the solution to poverty in Africa – A.Y.E President

The President of Africa’s Young Entrepreneur (A.Y.E), Mr Summy Smart has reiterated that the only way to harness poverty in Africa is that people should engage themselves in entrepreneurship activities. He said this in a press conference held at Fidelity place Victoria Island Lagos.

In a bid to solidify the existing mutual and beneficial relationship between A.Y.E and Fidelity bank, an agreement was signed recently by both organizations in other to strengthen the ongoing efforts and initiatives of A.Y.E in developing and supporting future business leaders across the continent and also to tackle poverty in Africa, partnering the organization on their event tagged “Networking with the Giants Conference” scheduled for later this month.

The annual conference, according to Smart, is an exceptional platform for some of the world’s most accomplished business leaders to network with perhaps the brightest entrepreneurs in Africa With a network of over 12.6 million members in Africa and 1.6 million members from Nigeria.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Fidelity Bank, Mr Nnamdi Okonkwo, said the essence of the partnership was “because we share the same ideas on entrepreneurship and job creation in line with the Federal Government’s economic diversification plan, more employment opportunities lead to poverty alleviation, improved food security and GDP growth.

“People should endeavour to use their intellect and creativity to see what they can do for the development of the country. Also, the government cannot be responsible for everything,” he noted.

The forthcoming A.Y.E conference is expected to welcome prominent business leaders such as Africa’s richest woman, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija, former president Olusegun Obasanjo, former governor of Lagos State Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a host of others who members of the public will be able to meet one on one without protocol, the president stated.

  • Rivers APC stakeholders call on Abe to vie for governor

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the 23 local government areas have called on the representative of Rivers Southeast, Senator Magnus Abe, to vie for governor in 2019.

The APC stakeholders met for over two hours yesterday at Tana Event Centre, King Perekule Street, Government Reservation Area (GRA) Phase 2, Port Harcourt.

They issued a six-point communique read to reporters and stakeholders by ex-Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Worgu Boms.

Those that signed the document are Chidi Wihioka, Maurice Pronen, Felix Nwaeke, Marcus Nle Ejii, Augustine Wokocha and Ipalibo Harry.

Senator Wilson Ake, who once represented Rivers West; ex-Chief of Staff of Government House Chief Tony Okocha; and ex-Chairman of Port Harcourt City Council Chimbiko Akarolo; among other APC leaders, also attended the meeting.

They deliberated on the state of the party ahead of the 2019 general election and received reports from members about their councils.

The communique said: “After more than two hours of deliberations …, it became evident that all were united in our love for our country, our state and our party. The meeting reaffirmed the belief that it is God that gives power to whoever He desires.

“Without equivocation and with the power and support of both the APC constitution and Nigerian constitution, the meeting stated that Senator Magnus Ngei Abe’s eminent qualification to aspire to the Office of Governor of Rivers State under our party, could not be questioned.

“Accordingly, the meeting called on Senator Abe to present himself for the 2019 governorship under APC, as he has the support and approval of majority of our party faithful across the state.”

Rivers APC stakeholders hailed members who had faced discrimination on account of their political orientation and association with Abe, for not leaving the party.

“The meeting drew attention to the deep and strong division in the party, which division, if not checked and resolved, will bode ill for the party’s electoral outing. The meeting urged the State Working Committee (SWC) to strive for independence, impartiality and inclusiveness, if the party must come out of the present low morale of members.

“The meeting affirmed the right of all members with ambition within the party to openly express it, canvass, lobby and rally support for its actualisation, without fear and within the laws and constitution of the party…’’

APC stakeholders thanked God for the health of President Muhammadu Buhari and his return home to continue the task of building a Nigeria, where no one would be oppressed.

The stakeholders pledged loyalty to and cooperation with the APC and Buhari, while congratulating the President on Nigeria’s 57th independence anniversary.

  • Ronaldo: The aging maestro still at his prolific best

Ronaldo: The aging maestro still at his prolific best

You can see the expression right in his face, the mood through which he waves his hand towards the Santiago bernabeu fans making them to understand his ability and credibility in front of a goal post which you never know when he can unleash his wrath upon your team; whether you agree with me or not, Cristiano Ronaldo’s age does not determine whether he will stop scoring goals and most especially the one that can destabilize the morale of the opponent. Even Antoine Griezmann shook his head when he scored his second goal against Atletico Madrid; therefore, he cannot be overlooked and you can’t joke with him when he is in the 18 yard box.

He may have been experiencing what I like to call a footballer’s nightmare. His struggles to find the back of the net seemed an almost impossible and implausible expectation.

He is arguably one the finest footballers the world of soccer will ever produce. Scoring 103 European  goals; even Atletico Madrid can only brag of 100 European goals since its inception. Lionel Messi, his arch rival, is still struggling with 96 goals.

Regardless of his average scoring performance this season, it will be good advice for any one never to underestimate nor belittle his ability to attain a comeback- even at the age of 32.  With his 42 hat tricks for real Madrid, 50 champions league knockout goals, and 13 semi-final goals, we cannot but celebrate the almost ethereal talent of the immaculate Ronaldo.

With the remarkable performance of Ronaldo on Tuesday, he has proven his doubters wrong once again after netting a hat trick against Diego Simeone’s side in the semi-final of the UEFA champions league in front of his home fans; this makes it his second hat trick against Simeone’s side this season and also making him the first player to ever score a back-to-back hat trick in the knockout stages of the UEFA champions league history.

He is indeed a god in the world of soccer; even Lionel Messi with his impressive achievements cannot but recognize Ronaldo’s amazing talent and his ubiquitous historical records.

Finally, Ronaldo has proven his might and the full extent of his talent by not only performing his ‘hat trick magic’ on smaller teams, but preponderantly on the best of the best in the international platform of the Champions league.

With my above postulations and overwhelming evidences, I have just one question for you: Are you still one of his enemies?

#BBNaija: Who takes home the Prize?

With just two days to end the game, the race to the highly coveted prize money of a whooping N25,000,000 and an SUV has intensified. Following the eviction of the smooth operator – Bally, the “trophy” is within the grasp of the remaining housemates. However, the probability of winning for each of the housemates is 1:5…not a bad one I must say!

The heavily criticised but overwhelmingly entertaining reality show is one that has witnessed several melodramas from the different housemates: From Ese and John being branded “fake housemates” before their eventual eviction, Gifty’s denial of ever knowing Banky W while in the house and the grey areas concerning her marital status, Kemen’s disqualification from the house after massaging and “kemening” Tboss while she was asleep (asleep?, hmmm…only God knows oh!),  ThinTallTony’s fake but glaringly sensual and carnal affair with Bisola in the house, Bassey’s shocking announcement of having a girlfriend after his eviction, and lastly, Bally’s merit award of being the “master kisser”; having kissed all the female housemates before his eviction.

Kudos must be given to all the evicted housemates who have been so wonderful in participating in the show.  Our shout out goes to – John, Ese, Gifty, Miyonse, Soma, Cocoice, Uriel, Kemen, Thintall Tony, Bassey and Bally…We hail thee!

It is believe that any credit gotten in the house will not count when it comes to knowing who will go home with the grand prize as the reality of the impending grand finale quickly crawls upon the housemates; only the person with the highest number of votes will eventually win the prize.

A lot of interesting stories are unfolding in every city as we draw closer to the final few days of the reality show.

BBNaija has simply captivated and more or less mesmerised its audience across Africa, most prominently Nigeria where a lot of people have stood up to campaign for their housemate to win the money bag.

Recently there has been a lot of exciting moments in the heart of BBNaija fans as people of high personality in Nigeria stood up to campaign for their favorite housemate.

Efe who is branded as the man of the moment “based on his logistics instinct” has received a lot of support from Nigerian celebrities campaigning for him and also his people from Warri rallying around to secure votes for their man.

Comedian bright okpocha popularly known as Basket mouth took to his Instagram page to campaign for him. Other celebrities in support of Efe are YBNL Boss Olamide, Ice prince Zamani, I go die, popular Nollywood actress Funke Akindele a.k.a Jenifa also shows her love and support for Efe.

TBoss got the support of Uti Nwachukwu, Linda Ikeji, Adekunle Gold, Linda Ejiofor, Beverly Osu, Ex BBA Africa winners – Dillish and Idris, Ex-BBA housemate – Maria, Nollywood actress – Ivie Okujaye, Beverly Naya, Bob risky, Mike Godson and more.

Bisola got the support of Iyanya, Mofe Duncan, Padita Agu. Also, her sister was recently pictured sharing recharge cards to Unilag students as a way of campaigning for her sister.

Marvis also get her supports from the Rivers state government as a way of mobilizing people to vote for their own child.

Lastly, Debbie-rise was also rumoured to have gathered supports from Kogi state government.

The SUV and N25m up for grabs by the “fantastic five” housemates, the big question now is: Who are you casting your vote for?
