The federal government has committed to providing adequate funding for the timely completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway project.
This assurance was given by Minister of Finance and Co-Ordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, during an inspection visit to the road project in the company of the Minister of Works.
In his statement, Edun revealed that the necessary funds for completing the project are being worked out and will be made available to the contractors.
He emphasized the urgent need for the speedy completion of the project while highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to improve domestic resource mobilization for highly viable projects.
Edun said: “The inspection tour is an essential part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, during which we aim to assess contractor commitment, offer encouragement and support, and ensure the prompt completion of this vital project.”
According to the Minister, the Tinubu-led administration has prioritized infrastructure development as a critical means of reducing food prices, facilitating the transportation of agricultural produce, enhancing nationwide mobility, and stabilizing the economy. In line with these objectives, Edun reiterated the availability of funds for the early completion of the road project.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed that President Tinubu had directed that the project be completed within 24 months. Umahi expressed appreciation for the Minister of Finance’s reassurance regarding adequate funding and praised him for his critical decisions regarding project completion.
Umahi further revealed that the two ministers are currently working on the payment modalities and ensuring that milestones are achieved promptly. He explained that specifications have been set to ensure the reliability and durability of the completed project, adding that the contractors have been instructed to prioritize major carriageways.
With the Minister of Finance and Co-Ordinating Minister of the Economy’s commitment to expeditiously release funds, Umahi expressed optimism about the project’s completion within the specified 24-month timeframe.

He emphasized the government’s dedication to providing Nigerian citizens with well-constructed roads that are accessible at all times, noting that the finance minister is equally committed to this goal.
Benjamin Butt, Programme Manager of Julius Berger, the contractor responsible for the project, shed light on the construction methodology being employed. He stated that the company is utilizing Recycling Technology in the rehabilitation of the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway, outlining the various stages of development.
The federal government’s assurance of sufficient funding for the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway project reflects its commitment to infrastructure development and improved transportation networks across the country.
With this funding in place, the government aims to enhance mobility, reduce transportation costs, and stimulate economic growth.
