    Dons, researchers, others for academy’s conference

    Reseachers, innovators, policymakers and others will address envronmental challenges, climate change, disaster resilience, food security, and sustainable, inclusive, and evidence-based solutions at Academy of Innovative Research, Science and Technological Development (AcIRSTD) conference on science and technology.

    The event will be held at Nigerian National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja, on August 28.

     A statement by lead facilitator, Prof. Akin Ogunsakin, noted that the conference aligns with UN’s High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and will focus on advancing sustainable, inclusive, and evidence-based solutions for 2030 Agenda.

    “The findings will contribute to appreciating potential of science, technology and innovation to meet sustainable development trials to fairly improve operation of the “national innovation system” for sustainable expansion of technologies. The outcome will help to realise the potential of science and technology to address challenges facing Nigeria.

    “In addition, the academy will confer Fellow (FARST – Fellow Academy Researchers, Scientists and Technologists) to scholars, educators, scientists, researchers, and technologists at the event.

    “The themes are Environmental, Conservation and Biodiversity, Sustainable Energy Strategies and Technologies, Climate Resilience, and others.

    Ogunsakin said keynotes, presentations, and discussions will focus on AI, robotics, IoT, blockchain,  earth sciences, climate resilience and renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, sustainable development goals (SDGs), among others.

    Academy apologises for confab postponement

    The Academy of Innovative Research, Science & Technological Development (AcIRSTD) has apologised for the postponement of  its conference earlier scheduled for February 27, 2025.

    The lead facilitator Prof. Akin Ogunsakin, had stated that  an emergency meeting by the management of AcIRSTD on February 15 led to rescheduling the event to April 17.

    In a statement,Ogunsakin apologised to stakeholders who had confirmed their availability for the conference before the postponement.

    He said: “Our sincere apologies go to our distinguished scholars and scientists that have confirmed their participation at the national event.

    “They include but not limited to Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE); Prof. Ibrahim Hassan Garba Vice Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi; Prof. Nyaudoh Ukpabio Ndeayo, Vice Chancellor, University of Uyo, Uyo; Prof. Dimie Ogoina, Vice-Chancellor, Bayelsa Medical University; Professor Okechukwu Onuchuku, Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE); Engr.
