“While we continue, as a candidate and as a party, to play our role as a viable opposition by holding the State Government under the leadership of Gov. • Kogi Governor’s agents crippling my campaigns, ADC candidate alleges

The Kogi State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the state government of planning to rig the forthcoming elections.

ADC also accused the government of plot to induce electoral officials with fund from public coffers.

Besides, candidates on the platform of the party also accused the state government of unleashing mayhem on oppositions.

They alleged that thugs sponsored by the state government have been hampering their campaigns.

Briefing reporters in Abuja yesterday, the Personal Assistant, Mr. Emeka Nzekwesi and the party’s Senatorial  candidate East, Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji said the actions of the state government have become unbearable and a threat to democracy.

Adoji has taken  Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and his ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, before the international community over the alleged attack on him and his supporters.

Adoji, who spoke  at a  news conference at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, also called on international protocols on civil and political rights, and other relevant bodies to promptly redress the overbearing attitudes of the state government towards opposition parties in the state.

“These acts has not only spelt out anarchy, it violets my political rights having fulfill the necessary requirements to contest for elective positions in Nigeria.

“But my determination to endear my candidacy to the electorate via peaceful and other legitimate electioneering endeavours have been hampered by thugs allegedly sponsored by the state government and its agents.”

Recalling the incidents of such mayhems  unleashed by thugs, Adoji said: “On the 10th of January, 2019, our Blimp, campaign material, stationed in Ankpa Local Government Area of the state was shot down by unknown gunmen at about 1am.

“ On the 19th of January, 2019, my supporters were attacked while on transit to Dekina town (Dekina Local Government Area) for the  zonal rally by thugs engaged by the ruling All Progressive Congress Party in the State. They were brutally injured and the buses conveying them were destroyed. The home of one of our supporters in Anyigba was invaded, and properties destroyed.

“Barely forty eight hours later, a group of well armed thugs

  • ADC candidate to Fayose: Pay workers’ salaries

African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate Chief Ayodele David-Adesua has urged Governor Ayo Fayose to concentrate on solving domestic problems rather than attacking prominent Nigerians who disagree with him.

In a statement by his media aide, Gbenga Ogedengbe, Adesua advised Fayose to use his remaining days in office to pay workers’ salaries and stop chasing shadows.

He said Ekiti people are not happy with their high rate of poverty, which has spiralled out of Fayose’s control over alleged wastage on white elephant projects.

The ADC flag bearer was reacting to Fayose’s outburst against the former President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Muhammadu Buhari over the $16 billion spent on power supply during the former’s administration.

Adesua described Fayose’s comments on Obasanjo and Buhari’s public spat as “senseless and unpatriotic.”

Adesua said: ”The maturity displayed by the Yoruba ethnic group when MKO Abiola died would not repeat itself if anything whatsoever happens to Chief Obasanjo this time around.”

“We are worried about the growing desperation of Mr president.

“President Buhari should try and contain his growing desperation to stay beyond 2019 while he is also warned not to consider doing anything evil to Obasanjo as an option.”

“Because the consequences, no Fulani herdsmen can withstand, even the United Nations Joint Military Task force may not”.

He said Fayose should try and pay a backlog of unpaid workers’ salary rather than prying into such matter which is not part of his duties as governor.

Adesua said the people are not happy about the high degree of impoverishment which Fayose had plunged them into by his reckless and lavish spending of their Commonwealth on frivolities.

“Unlike Fayose, neither Obasanjo nor Buhari owed workers’ salary during their own administrations in Nigeria”, Adesua affirmed.

“For Fayose not to have realised that the two conflicting leaders are even better than him is an evidence that he (Fayose) doesn’t think.”, Adesua concluded with good breath of assurance.

  • ADC candidate urges Obasanjo to intervene in nomination crisis

•Adesua vows not to step down for Oyinlola’s friend, Bejide

A crisis has erupted in Ekiti State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over the party’s governorship ticket. Its candidate, Chief Ayodele David Adesua, has vowed not to surrender his mandate to another person.

Adesua was returned unopposed by all 32 accredited delegates in a primary election supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.

But he has accused former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of attempting to impose his friend, Ambassador Dare Bejide, as the candidate after he (Bejide) lost to Mr. Akinloye Ayegbusi in the primary conducted by the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Adesua faulted a report in a national daily (not The Nation) that the ADC has withdrawn from participating in the July 14 governorship election, saying the party is ready to participate in the election.

The purported withdrawal was attributed to the ADC National Chairman, Mr. Ralph Nwosu. But Adesua insisted that “it goes beyond the power of anybody to withdraw from the Ekiti governorship race on behalf of the candidate, without being delegated to do so”.

Adesua said: “This ridiculous development gives an insight into how selfish desperation of power of a single individual can wreck the ship of a movement such as Coalition for Nigeria Movement, which is recognized locally and internationally as the team that would salvage Nigerians from the currently sinking ship of their nationhood.

“Though we are having a good grasp of why such comedy show is being relayed on a public platform after several persuasions by Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola to lure the ADC candidate in the Ekiti 2018 governorship election, Chief Ayodele David Adesua, into standing down for his friend, Ambassador Dare Bejide of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

“It is on record that Oyinlola’s friend, Dare Bejide, was one of the SDP governorship aspirants who lost in the SDP primary election which held on Friday, 11th day of May, 2018, while Adesua was returned unopposed by the entire 32 party delegates in the governorship primaryof ADC held on May 13, 2018.

“It must be noted that the sum of N1 million which was the fee for Adesua’s nomination form has been paid by him as requested, using text message platform by the same national chapter of the party.

“Consequently, we will never consider sparing any effort in ensuring that we hold tight to what belongs to us, regardless of how dangerous it may appear to the success of Obasanjo’s CNM.

“Therefore, His Excellency, Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo may need to prevail on former Governor Oyinlola before it is too late.

“Ayodele David Adesua and his team will never lay down the people’s mandate to fly the party’s flag in Ekiti 2018 governorship election, considering how much he has singlehandedly laboured to fund the party to maturity in Ekiti State, before having a good boost of fortunes when Obasanjo’s CNM collapsed into it.”
