    In a message shared online, the singer encouraged fans to unfollow accounts that drain their energy and mute conversations that no longer serve them.

    He also urged them to surround themselves with positive influences — including uplifting people, inspiring books, and motivating music.

    “Unfollow accounts that drain you, mute conversations that don’t serve you, and replace them with people, books, and music that lift you up,” Adekunle Gold wrote.

    Adekunle Gold launches ‘5 Star Care’ to support sickle cell warriors on World Sickle Cell Day

    Award-winning singer Adekunle Gold has launched the “5 Star Care” initiative to mark World Sickle Cell Day, fulfilling a personal promise to support individuals living with sickle cell disease.

    Partnering with the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Sickle Cell Management Initiative, the programme will provide free health insurance to 1,000 people in Lagos affected by the condition.

    The initiative builds on Adekunle Gold’s ongoing efforts to uplift sickle cell warriors, including a previous medical outreach that supported over 300 individuals and a scholarship programme for those living with the disease to study music business.

    Having lived with sickle cell anaemia since birth, the singer has frequently shared his struggles, from debilitating pain crises to feelings of isolation due to widespread misconceptions about the condition.

    Announcing the initiative, Adekunle Gold said, “5 Star Care isn’t just an initiative, it’s a promise, a promise to ensure that sickle cell warriors are seen, heard, and cared for. We’re starting small by providing free health insurance to 1,000 people living with sickle cell in Lagos State. But this is only the beginning.”

    Through “5 Star Care,” he hopes to create lasting change and provide meaningful support to those navigating life with sickle cell.

    Afrobeats singer Adekunle Gold has playfully mocked his colleague Joeboy after he lost a N3 million bet on Real Madrid to beat Arsenal in their Champions League quarterfinal match.

    Joeboy had shared a betting slip hours before the game, confidently backing Madrid to win, with the potential to earn N10.3 million. 

    He captioned the slip, “Cashing out on Arsenal tears tonight!”

    However, Arsenal’s 3-0 victory resulted in Joeboy losing the bet, prompting Adekunle Gold to join in on the fun with a lighthearted tease.

    Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Real Madrid puts them in a strong position ahead of the second leg.

    They’ll look to maintain their lead when they travel to the Santiago Bernabeu next Wednesday.

    Before then, they’ll face Brentford in the Premier League.

    A new documentary, entitled “The Odyssey”, is set to detail Yoruba music’s 100-year history to Afrobeats and beyond. “The Odyssey” will take viewers on an illuminating journey through the history of Yoruba music, its cultural significance, and its impact on Afrobeats, and evolution of different subcultures in the last century, including Were, Sakara, Apala, Juju, AfroJuju, and Fuji, among many others.

    “The Odyssey, which will feature a stellar cast of producers, including singer and songwriter Adekunle Gold, is garnering attention within the music industry and sets sights on global audiences. The documentary directed by award-winning filmmaker Abba T. Makama and produced by executive producer Bobo Omotayo, takes viewers on an immersive journey through the captivating rhythms and rich history of Yoruba music, revealing its profound influence on the global music scene and role in shaping the emergence of Afrobeats.

    White House Productions has announced that Gold will serve as a co-producer alongside Tosin Ashafa, Omotayo, to enhance the documentary’s storyline with his knowledge of the industry, network, and love of Yoruba music. This formidable group is committed to providing an exciting, genuine look at our history, culture, and where we’re going from here.

    Makama is an award-winning filmmaker and visual artist from Nigeria. His feature film debut, “Green White Green” had its 2016 world premiere at Toronto International Film Festival. Since then it has screened at over twenty international film festivals, including the Stockholm International Film Festival,

    On the other hand, Omotayo is a force in the promotion and preservation of Yoruba music, with a remarkable portfolio of pioneering programmes and events, especially under his cultural umbrella “FUJI: A Opera’. FUJI: A Opera” is a multi-dimensional entertainment platform that deconstructs and reimagines the mysterious Fuji music genre for a new generation of music and cultural enthusiasts.

    Gold is a Nigerian born and bred singer-songwriter who gained recognition from his very first release, “Sade” a love song released as a cover of One Direction’s “Story of My Life” which led to him signing a recording contract with a Nigerian label YBNL just two weeks after its release.

    He emphasised that artists, producers, and true contributors are being overshadowed by those who do not create or respect the craft.
