BBNaija’s Adekunle thanks Lagos police for action in alleged brutality case

Big Brother Naija star Adekunle has shared an update on his recent encounter with police brutality.

In a lengthy post on X, Adekunle expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Police Command’s Complaint Response Unit for their prompt action and investigation into his case.

He wrote: “In the last few days, the only news you’ve heard from me has been difficult, but at this very moment, I would like to share some good news with you.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank The Lagos State Police Command Complaint Response Unit for their prompt attention to this matter. From reaching out, swinging into action the moment the news broke, and following up to make sure everything was okay”.

Adekunle praised the efforts of ACP Oluyemisi Ojo, who led the investigation, and urged citizens to report any cases of police brutality.

The reality star revealed that the police officers involved in the incident have been found and disciplinary action has been taken against them.

He continued: “I have been in talks with the ACP in charge of the Area J Command, Elemoro, Ibeju Lekki, providing her with all the details necessary with hopes that the officers at fault would be found and brought to book.

“I am happy to let you know that I just left the Elemoro Police Station and thanks to the effort and investigation of ACP Oluyemisi Ojo, the police officers were found, and disciplinary action has been taken against them.

“Justice has been served! I can’t begin to describe how much of a heavy burden and emotional weight has been lifted off my shoulders. The mere fact that justice can be served at a time where public trust for the police is very low is truly encouraging.

“For everyone who has ever been treated badly at the hands of police officers, please make sure you report the case. Get as much evidence as you can and take the matter up. The Lagos State Complaint Response Unit (on Instagram) works, and their job is to ensure the safety of the citizens while also sanitizing the system of the bad officers.

“I shouldn’t have experienced what I went through, and neither should any Nigerian simply going about their business. I know I am lucky, but also, I was innocent. We are approaching the celebratory season.

“PLEASE BE CAREFUL. While there are good officers out there, the bad ones exist also. While celebrating, be mindful of your surroundings and remember the potential risks. Harassment is unacceptable, and no one deserves to go through all that”.

Adekunle’s post comes after he was allegedly assaulted by police officers, and he has been sharing his experience to raise awareness about police brutality.

The former Big Brother Naija housemate thanked his fans for their support and prayers, saying it’s a blessing to know he’s not alone.

He added: “For all the messages, calls, prayers, and outpouring of love and support I received, I am truly grateful. It is indeed a blessing to know that I was not alone during this period and that there will always be people to rise up and stand with you when it truly matters.

“Thank you everyone, God bless you. Now it’s time to focus on being me again”.

Reality star Adekunle speaks on life after BBNaija

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle Olopade, has voiced concerns about the growing number of ex-participants who find themselves stranded after the reality show.

Taking to his social media handle, Adekunle acknowledged that while Big Brother Naija remains the biggest reality television show in Africa, there appears to be no clear roadmap to success for contestants once the show is over.

He wrote: “Let me double down and say that BBN is the biggest reality TV show in Africa, but somehow, Nigeria does not have a reality TV culture -there’s almost no certain success path after the show, and most of the reality stars suffer for this.”

His remark sparked mixed reactions online.

Responding to a follower who argued that ex-housemates should simply return to their regular jobs after leaving the show, Adekunle explained that many contestants joined the show precisely because they were unemployed and sought a change in their circumstances.

“A lot of the cast didn’t have 9–5s to begin with -which is why they tried to change their story by going on the show. Only a few had jobs or businesses before they went in. But yes, going back if things didn’t work out doesn’t sound like a bad idea,” he added.

BBNaija: Adekunle defends housemates over intimate moments

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle, has defended contestants of the ongoing season who have been involved in intimate moments on the show.

In a post on X, Adekunle argued that the housemates are consenting adults and not doing anything wrong by being attracted to one another, especially as the show is rated 18.

His comments follow reactions to intimate scenes involving pairs such as Koyin and Isabella, Jason Jae and Sultana, as well as Mide and Bright Morgan.

Adekunle cautioned against image shaming and name-calling, noting that such criticism undermines the essence of the reality show.

He added that many of those judging might be guilty of similar behavior away from the public eye.

Adekunle wrote, “The only sin big brother housemates actually commit is coming on the show to entertain you guys. I can’t believe the things I’m seeing on the TL. LOL.

“So, because consenting adults ON A RATED 18 show who are clearly attracted to each other get intimate, that’s why you guys are coming up with all these think pieces? The amount of hypocrisy I’ve witnessed from you guys this week alone is very laughable.

“What do you guys really think happens when adults are left together in a confined space? Please let’s be real. Not one single person in that house has done anything wrong because they’re attracted to someone else. This image shaming, reputation damaging, name calling and things you guys are on, is exactly what is killing the show.

“The gag in all of this is, the people who are pointing fingers and quick to accusations actually do much worse, with multiple people infact, but because it’s not on national tv you think you’re all saints? You all better go to church and ask for forgiveness”.

  • BBNAIJA: Focus on entertainment not just romance, Adekunle urges fans

BBNAIJA: Focus on entertainment not just romance, Adekunle urges fans

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Adekunle has expressed frustration with the way fans are engaging with the current season of the show.

According to him, the excessive focus on relationships, potential ships, and drama is overshadowing the entertainment value of the program.

According to Adekunle, fans should shift their attention to appreciating the diverse personalities and talents of the housemates.

He notes that with 26 contestants in the house, more than half of whom are incredibly entertaining, there’s a wealth of content to enjoy beyond romantic storylines.

Adekunle also reminds fans that everything happening in the house is part of a game, where contestants are playing roles to achieve their goals and by fixating on a handful of housemates and their relationships, fans are diluting the potential of the season.

Adekunle’s request fans to enjoy the show in its entirety, taking in the various curated events, like the pool party and wager presentation, which are designed to enhance the viewer’s experience.

He wrote on X: “You guys aren’t enjoying this show and it sucks. I haven’t watched the show since Wednesday, and I hoped to get updates on the TL. But instead, it’s talk about alleged ships, potential ships and the drama within the triangles.

“There are 26 people in that house and more than half of them are incredibly entertaining. THIS IS AN ENTERTAINMENT SHOW, not a show about love. I’m genuinely asking now, because I don’t get it. What exactly is the entertaining value in
-boy likes girl, boy goes after girl.
-girl likes the attention, girl plays hard to get.
-boy talks to other girls, girl talks to other boys. Yes, it’s a storyline, but come on guys !

“There has been 9 seasons of the show and only a handful of ships have been successful afterwards. Year in, year out you guys always do this. FOCUS ON SHIPS – especially the ones that are unlikely to sail, WHY?

“Remember that everyone in that house is playing a game. Some people get in there knowing exactly what they want to do. Others figure it out while they’re in there, while others have to constantly remind themselves where they are and that – it’s all still a game.

“There was a pool party, a wager presentation and other things this week. These things are curated for the viewers experience. Allow yourselves to be entertained by EVERYTHING, not just the drama. Don’t make these housemates come out and pretend to be something they’re not just because they want to satisfy the fans.

“This season has the potential to be one of the best, but we’ll dilute it if we focus on just a handful of the housemates. Let’s enjoy the SHOW. Let’s focus on ENTERTAINMENT!”

BBNAIJA: Mensan’s strategy best in season 10 – Adekunle

Former Big Brother Naija housemate Adekunle has praised current housemate Mensan’s strategy, calling it “the best this season”.

Stating his opinion on X, Adekunle said Mensan’s bold entrance, eccentric fashion sense, and entertaining antics are evidence of his clever gameplay.

He noted that Mensan’s use of popular slang, like “pressurrreeee”, adds to his appeal.

He said: “You know what, let’s talk about it. Mensan actually has the best strategy this season. Since his very loud entrance that everyone talked about, to his daily style of wearing the strangest of things. Because tell me why at midnight he’s still dressed in this tie, red socks and office shoe and he’s wearing an apron trying to make dinner.

“Why everyone isn’t talking about him from the game/strategy perspective, I don’t know but also being the only one that even has the common slang in the house “pressurrreeee”, Mensan is definitely giving entertainment. Maybe if he wasn’t so loud. But still.”

He said: “I would like to think that we were in a relationship in the Big Brother’s house. I wouldn’t want to use the word love. It’s too strong for that scenario. But what we had was more than an understanding. I think we when we’re in the House together, it was a real thing,” Adekunle said.

“After the show, we had a conversation about our relationship. Out of respect for her and also because she’s not here, I will not give out the details. But we had a conversation outside the House. It was a conversation and it was an understanding but the result was not what was anticipated.”

“I don’t talk to her anymore because we don’t have a relationship. We don’t communicate, we don’t speak [with each other]. A lot of bad things happened, that’s why I’m not going to share them here out of respect for her.”

My most memorable moment in real estate business – Adekunle

Real Estate magnate Abikoye Emmanuel Adekunle, has spoken on what represents the highest point of his fledgling career in the built industry.

Fondly called the Chief Coach of Lagos by family members, friends, business associates and admirers for different reasons, Adekunle said his adventure into the real estate sector was helped by his tough upbringing in one of the most dreaded slums of Lagos.

On his most memorable moment in life so far, he said: “That has to be when we delivered our first housing projects, The Ambiance, 48 units of duplexes behind LBS Lagos”.

He stated that his biggest lesson so far is not to “oversell your projects and make sure you reserved units for yourself for company assets.”

The businessman, who hails from Iludun Oro, Kwara State as first born of a family of eight, was born and raised in Lagos, Ajegunle, reputed to be one of the most notorious slums and ghettos in Lagos state, said growing up in Ajegunle toughened him up for the challenges of life.

“Growing up in the slum and ghetto has always been a matter of survival for me and my family. We used to live in a one room apartment on a street very close to the canal. While growing up, I used to travel to the village with my parents, especially during the Christmas festive period. On few occasions whenever we came back to Lagos, I always fell terribly sick”, he said.

Opening up on why he is fondly called the Chief Coach of Lagos, Adekunle, a co-founder of BRG Network Limited, rated as one of the biggest brokerage firms in Africa said: “I was called coach by my friends because of my leadership skills, while playing football on the streets of Ajegunle

“Then, when I was in the higher institution, I participated in school politics and i become the Student Union Sport Director 010/011 and I was referred to as ‘Coachee’

“When real estate came, because of my leadership skills and knowledge of the industry and how I trained people on how to sell real estate leveraging on the internet ,I earned the name Chief Coach”.

While recollecting some amazing things that happened to him while growing up, he said: “My mother told me I started walking at seven months old and whenever she went hawking her wares I used to jump in her back and help in chanting “Pokulowo e” meaning whatever she is selling is not expensive. I think that’s where my entrepreneurship journey started.

“After school, I will hawk my mum’s ware around the neighborhood to assist with funds for the family. I have hawked kerosene, Ankara fabrics, dusters etc”.

Adekunle, who bagged a Higher National Diploma in Microbiology from Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, was conferred with a Honourary doctorate degree in Luxury Real Estate Management and Property Development from the University of Panama.

He also has certifications in Real Estate Dynamics Skills and Strategies from the Metropolitan School of Business Management in the United Kingdom and Real Estate Marketing Certification from Lagos Business School.

He said his upbringing played a pivotal role in shaping his positive trajectory in life and career

“My parents are devoted Christians, most especially, my mum, as she will always force us to go to church and attend vigils. So as a result of this, I joined the church choir at a young age.

“As a church boy, even though, we were raised in the ghetto, I was able to maintain some moral vibes and values despite so many temptations to do drugs, cultism, frauds, hooliganism and other vices” Adekunle said.
