Napoli prepare €50m offer for Lookman

Napoli have made a bold start to the summer transfer window with the high-profile capture of Kevin De Bruyne and the promising Luca Marianucci — and now the Serie A champions have set their sights on Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Atalanta winger is seen as an ideal replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in January.

According to CNA, Napoli are preparing a €50 million offer for Lookman, though Atalanta are holding out for €60 million.

The 27-year-old forward, crowned African Footballer of the Year in 2024, is also attracting interest from Premier League clubs and La Liga sides, but Conte’s tactical vision and the prospect of linking up with Romelu Lukaku in attack could sway the decision.

Napoli’s ability to fund a move for Lookman could hinge on the future of Victor Osimhen.

The Super Eagles striker, who spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, is expected to leave the club permanently this summer. Juventus have been linked with Osimhen as a potential replacement should Dusan Vlahovic depart, while Saudi club Al-Hilal have reportedly offered €75 million — an offer rejected by the player, who prefers a move to England.

For Lookman, the decision could come down to whether he wants to remain in Italy or pursue a return to English football.

The former Charlton, Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City star enjoyed a standout season at Atalanta and appears poised for a major move — but whether that next chapter lies in Naples or across the Channel remains to be seen.

“The real challenge [for Atalanta] will be keeping top players like Ederson and Lookman,” Capello reportedly wrote  in his column on Gazzetta dello Sport  as per Football Italia. “If Atalanta’s management can resist transfer market pressure, then I don’t think the team needs significant changes.”

Lookman had an impressive showing   for Atalanta last season as he registered  20 goals and 7 assists from 40 appearances across all competitions to enjoy the confidence of new coach, Ivan Juric .

“The idea would be to keep both Lookman and Ederson, even if the club has clear ideas on the market and I have not made any request on players, not even on those I have had,” said Juric, who previously coached Southampton in the EPL.

The 27-year-old has one-year left on his contract with La Dea but  it  remains to be seen if he will be offered a new contract.

The Nigeria international could make his final appearance for La Dea tomorrow, when the Nerazzurri host strugglers Parma at the Gewiss Stadium.

Lookman has scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in 39 games across all competitions this season.

Liverpool  ready  to make stunning swap for Lookman

Liverpool are reportedly  considering a sensational swap deal that would see  Nigeria International Ademola Lookman and  his Italian counterpart Federico Chiesa change clubs.

Italian media outlet, Quotidiano Sportivo, claimed  that  Chiesa is likely to leave Liverpool and return to Serie A after a miserable first season at Anfield. Despite picking up a Premier League winners’ medial,  Chiesa barely featured at all – making just five league appearances totalling 41 minutes, all of them from the substitutes bench.

Incidentally, Liverpool are among the clubs who are big fans of Atalanta’s star Lookman, and the report further claimed  that the Reds could consider a swap deal that sees the Nigerian move to Anfield in exchange for cash plus Chiesa.

The African Footballer of the Year is expected  to  leave Atalanta  at the end of the season if the Italian club receives a suitable offer believed to be around €60 million.

Lookman has been heavily linked with virtually every top team in Europe over the past months.

A return to the Premier League is believed to be the likeliest destination for the 27-year-old, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Newcastle all interested. Barcelona and PSG are also big fans.

Earlier this year, Lookman was crowned African Footballer of the Year and finished 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or race after a stunning 2024.

He scored a legendary hat trick for Atalanta in the 3-0 Europa League final victory over Bayer Leverkusen last May. He hit 27 goal contributions for the season before taking that brilliant form into the 2024/2025 season.

In the first half of the season he was arguably the best player in Serie A, as Atalanta looked a good bet for the Scudetto.

However, together with Atalanta as a whole, Lookman’s form has dropped off in 2025 and he has not managed a single assist this year, although he has still added eight goals.

According to Spanish outlet Marca via Les-transferts, Atlético Madrid have already opened discussions with Lookman’s representatives.

While Diego Simeone’s side reportedly believes Atalanta’s asking price is steep, they are seriously considering a move after being impressed by Lookman’s prolific campaign.

Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has been linked with a move away from the Italian club at the end of the season, and multiple Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on his situation.

The Nigerian attacker has become one of the most talked-about names heading into the transfer window. The 27-year-old has attracted attention from several clubs with his outstanding performances both in Serie A and on the international stage.

Sources have informed CaughtOffside that Barcelona have contacted the player’s representatives to evaluate a potential move for Lookman. However, the ongoing financial difficulties of the Catalan giants may pose a serious obstacle.

Juventus, one of the clubs that first expressed interest in Lookman, continues to prioritise a move for the player. However, the asking price of €60–65 million seems challenging for the Torino-based side.

The interest of clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Arsenal in the player could see Lookman return to England as well. The Premier League clubs are planning to hold talks with the Nigerian soon.

  • Juventus opt for Lookman over Osimhen

Juventus opt for Lookman over Osimhen

Man United secure agreement in principle’ for Napoli loanee

With reports increasing that Victor Osimhen agreed personal terms with Manchester United, now Juventus are turning towards Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.

The Nigeria international is still owned by Napoli during his loan spell with Galatasaray, but is set for a sale this summer, perhaps for less than the €75m release clause in his contract.

Multiple reports in Turkey and Italy  have suggested over the last few days that Osimhen agreed personal terms with Manchester United.

If confirmed, it would mean Juventus have to look elsewhere for a new striker and Calciomercato.com claimed  the most likely candidate is Lookman.

It would confirm a trend of poaching from Atalanta, where they paid €60m including bonuses to get Teun Koopmeiners last year.

A similar price-tag would be appended to Lookman, who is eager to move on following a row with Coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

The 27-year-old Nigeria international can play in a variety of attacking roles and this season contributed 18 goals with seven assists in 36 competitive games.

Before taking any further steps, Juventus would need to confirm their Champions League qualification, as failure would drastically reduce the transfer and salary budget.

Meanwhile, according to reporting in Turkey and by Tuttosport in Italy, United’s simmering interest in Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, is very real and making progress.

“TuttoSport claimed  that Manchester United now have an ‘agreement in principle’ with Osimhen’s entourage over the striker’s salary, amidst keen interest from Juventus and their sporting director Cristiano Guintoli,” relays Sport Witness.

The Nigerian international has been one of the hottest attacking properties in football for some time and has scored 21 times in 25 Super Lig appearances this season, firing the Istanbul giants to a probable title.

With another 65 goals to his name in Serie A, admiring glances from Juventus and Man United  were inevitable.

If talks are indeed moving along as reported, the next challenge for the Red Devils is to offload the players to unlock Osimhen’s punchy €75m release clause and make room for him in the squad.

Juventus will now step up their chase for Ademola Lookman after his fellow Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen, turned them down.

    Osimhen’s representatives recently rejected Juventus.

The 2024 CAF Player of the Year Award winner has maintained his goal-scoring form for La Dea this season. With 18 goals and six assists in all competitions, the 27-year-old is in his second-best season in terms of attacking output, which is a decent number considering the number of injuries he’s dealt with this season.

His price tag is put at around 60 Million Euros.
