He said: “Food security has been one of the major agendas of Mr. President, which will continue to echo to everyone of us. We will continue to promote as much as we can.

“In the face of the current economic challenges and increase in food prices, we are standing together to accelerate our seed, while guaranteeing that our families remain nourished and supported.”

Oseni warns contractors against shoddy works on roads

The Chairman, House Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engr. Aderemi Oseni, has warned contractors against shoddy works on Nigeria’s roads.

He urged contractors to strictly adhere to project specifications, saying poor quality work remained major factor in road failures across Nigeria.

Speaking in Ibadan during the Oyo Federal Roads Stakeholders Engagement, an event organised by House of Representatives Committee on Works, Oseni, who represents Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency stated that there is need for contractors to uphold professionalism and deliver quality projects that serve interests of the public.

The lawmaker noted that while overloading contributes to road deterioration, the primary issue is failure of contractors to comply with approved project designs.

He said:”Some road failures are not caused by overloading but by poor-quality work from some contractors. If roads are built to specification, maintenance costs across the country will be significantly reduced. Deviating from these standards leads to high maintenance expenses and deteriorating infrastructure.”

Oseni commended the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, for granting Oyo State an unprecedented privilege by appointing lawmakers from the state as chairmen of both the House Committees on Works and FERMA.

“We can all see a remarkable shift from the past in our road infrastructure. The reforms are taking shape, and we must leverage this opportunity to ensure the best outcomes for our state and the nation.”

He however lauded President Bola Tinubu for implementing reforms that are gradually yielding positive results across all sectors.

“We have a President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is committed to fixing Nigeria’s challenges. His approach to road infrastructure development is a testament to that commitment.”

  • Oyo lawmaker Oseni speaks up for Man Utd’s Rashford

Oyo lawmaker Oseni speaks up for Man Utd’s Rashford

A member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Engr. Aderemi Oseni, has make case for Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford.

Oseni, an ardent football enthusiast, fan of Shooting Stars FC, Ibadan, and Manchester United, in a statement by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele said the club was unfair to the England international.

He urged United’s management to reconsider their approach, stressing that Rashford deserves respect for his years of service.

He expressed confidence that the player’s current challenges would ultimately lead to greater success.

According to him: “The treatment of Rashford by Manchester United is a calculated attempt to rubbish the rhythmic successful career and glory this young talent has built over the years.

“If he has made mistakes, whether due to youthful exuberance or personal struggles, it should be seen as part of his growth. Rather than offering support, the club has chosen to humiliate him publicly.”

Rashford, who has been with the club since seven and ranks as United’s 13th all-time highest goal scorer, has been frozen out of the squad since mid-December.

Reports suggest that new manager, Ruben Amorim, has sidelined the 27-year-old over concerns about his commitment, a decision the lawmaker described as unjust and damaging to the player’s career.

Oseni stressed:  “The situation escalated recently when the manager, Ruben Amorim, reportedly declared that he would rather play his 63-year-old goalkeeper coach, Jorge Vital, than recall Rashford to the squad. I want to condemn the remarks, it is an unnecessary public humiliation of a player who has given his best years to the club.

“It is now crystal clear that Rashford was being forced out of the club due to internal politics and envy rather than poor performance.

“If United no longer needs him, they should facilitate a dignified exit and hand him over to a club where he would be celebrated instead of humiliating or destroying his career.”

The lawmaker pointed out Rashford had played only a few matches under Amorim but still managed to score four goals in about three appearances before being frozen out.
