Former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso on Monday paid a courtesy to Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose.

The purpose of Kwankwaso’s visit to Fayose remained unknown as journalists working for the independent media were not invited to the parley at the Ado-Ekiti Government House.

Kwankwaso, who presently represents Kano Central in the Senate, is believed to be on his way out of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the platform through which he won election into the National Assembly.

He is locked in a bitter struggle for the control of Kano politics with his long-time ally and successor, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Although Kwankwaso is believed to be nursing presidential ambition but it could not be confirmed whether his visit to Fayose was in connection with his interest to vie for the Presidency.

“Election is a civic duty and should be done peacefully; we urge eligible voters to go to their polling stations on Election Day and vote peacefully for the candidates of their choice.

“We urge politicians not to use our children and youths as thugs and we also warn our younger generation not to allow themselves to be used to cause mayhem at election.

  • Tension as gunmen kill apc member in Ado-Ekiti

    •Party: Ekiti sliding into anarchy

There is tension ahead of the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State, following the murder of an All Progressives Congress (APC) member, William Ayegoro (a.k.a. Willy), in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday night.

Eyewitnesses said Willy was shot in the head by gunmen riding on a motorcycle on Igbehin Street in Atikankan.

He was rushed to the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), where doctors battled to save his life.

Willy, who arrived at EKSUTH unconscious, after losing much blood, died early yesterday.

Eyewitnesses recalled that two men on a motorcyle rode past Willy, but the rider suddenly applied the brakes and one of them shot him in the head several times.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Caleb Ikechukwu said he had not been briefed on the incident.

The Ekiti State chapter of the APC has condemned Willy’s murder by those it described as “suspected assassins” and expressed dismay that the state was gradually sliding into anarchy.

APC spokesman Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement said: “It is sad that Ekiti State is sliding into murderous years of Governor Ayodele Fayose’s administration when political killings were the order of the day.”

Olatunbosun regretted that the People Democratic Party (PDP) was taking the governorship election as a do-or-die matter, as three incidents had been reported in three days that threatened a peaceful poll.

He said: “We note with sadness the sudden death in the Government House on Tuesday of a PDP member, Tope Onilearo, in circumstances over which the deceased’s family is now crying blue murder.

“Early yesterday morning, Dr. Wole Oluyede’s hotel was invaded by gunmen issuing threats to the physician.

“The assailants didn’t leave the hotel premises until they destroyed the billboard Oluyede donated to APC governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to be followed in the night by gun attack on Willy, who was confirmed dead at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti.

“In totality, we condemn these incidents coming shortly after reports were rife that Governor Fayose had allegedly imported armed assailants to the state to attack the opposition.

“We call on the security agencies to investigate these incidents to get to the root of the matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“But we warn that our party will not be intimidated by all these violent attacks to cow our members. We say no to needless blood-letting that PDP is instigating in desperate bid to retain power.

“Ekiti people in the last three years have been able to know who loves them between our candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, and Governor Ayodele Fayose, who is desperate to install Prof. Kolapo Olusola as governor to realise his continuity dream.

“Ekiti people have made up their minds to vote against an oppressive system run by Fayose and there is no amount of intimidation that will distract APC from ensuring that Ekiti people have a peaceful election that will return our candidate as governor so that our people can return to the peace and security they enjoyed during Fayemi’s first term between 2010 and 2014.”

  • Sunshine Ilesanmi Anifowose: The dossier of a flying public servant @40

In his work of Arts, a British Scholar, Dominic Walters opined that “Nothing is impossible and unachievable on the surface of earth if there’s still a life in a man and the man is determined, granular, unwavering, meticulous, thorough, methodical, conscientious, diligent, industrious and assiduous.”

In his book titled “Success Secret of a Flying Pilot” which chronicle the triumph of a Public Servant in his City of Birmingham who suffered defeat in all ramifications at adolescent till age 40 but refused to buckle, the award winning Author used the words of God in the holy book of Genesis to buttress his affirmation, stating that no man is born without a plus of talent, goodness, substance, class and endowment.

Walters said for a man to excel, he must be a man who doesn’t take no for an answer. He must be resolute and ruthless and pursue his target by all means necessary devoid of illegality, positing that for those in business, morality is a must to be jettisoned for wealth to be accumulated.

He believed that posterity and history will be kind to only those who remained truthful, humble, meek, unassuming, unpretentious, undemanding and modest both in the periods of dearth and affluence.

The content of the 96-page book which i read three years ago reminds me of the pleasurable life of Sunshine Ilesanmi Anifowose, a young man from the innate hill of Ado-Ekiti. Like the Pilot in Dominic Walters’ book, Anifowose clocks 40 on the surface of earth today. How Time Flies!!!

However, unlike the Street Beggar in Dominic Walters’ Book who rose to become the Pilot of one of the country’s ex-Prime Ministers, the man Anifowose was born into a middle class and fantastically comfortable family.

At age 15, he drove his father’s 504 Saloon Car and Mercedes-Benz 1990 Car which were one of the few then in Ado-Ekiti. Together with his siblings, Anifowose consumed what he desired. He was a man envied by many but humility which was a virtue born with him never allowed him derailed. He is a man of modesty and reticence.

Born on June 8th 1978 into the family of late Apostle Joseph Anifowose in Ado-Ekiti, he attended St. Joseph Nursery and Primary School, Ado-Ekiti. After his primary education, he proceeded to the prestigious Christ School, Ado-Ekiti where he was groomed in learning and in character.

In 1998, he was admitted into the University of Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti to study Geology and graduated with Honours. He also bagged a Masters of Business Administration from the same Institution in 2012, a feat that has helped him in no small measure on the management of business and Personnel.

Anifowose has been an Entrepreneur since age of 18, a legacy he inherited from his late Father. At age 19, he successfully set up the structures that propelled the take off of the defunct renowned Iyaniwura Bread, owned by the late former Finance Minister and Traditional ruler of Iloko-Ijesha, Osun Staate, Oba Frederick Olashore.

The experience that he gained during his one year compulsory National Youth Service at Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State between September 2002 to August 2003, though memorable, but propelled him never to look for white collar jobs after serving his father land.

On his return to Ado-Ekiti in 2004 from Delta, he incorporated “Sunshine Confectionaries”, a brand that has now catapulted him from a rejected to a chief corners stone. His “Sunshine Bread” is among the most patronized in Ekiti State today.

At age 26, he was already an employer of 36 people in his bakery situated at Odundun Street, Dalimore, Ado-Ekiti. At age 30, Anifowose had 62 people on his payroll when many of his contemporaries were wallowing from one firms to another in search for non-existing jobs. Today, his brands which included the fastest growing “African Kitchen” in Ado-Ekiti, have over 80 employees.

A man of vision who did not allow his agrarian environment to kill his vision, at a time, the man Ilesanmi who had been consuming what he so desires was forced by men of the underworld to start eating whatever he could lay his hands upon. That was his experience when he lost his father who was gruesomely murdered in his sleep 21 years ago in Ado-Ekiti.

The rumblings in the wind as Anifowose tasted hunger were visible to the blind and audible to the deaf. He felt all was over but like a valiant soldier without a dint of fear, he matches on. He re-event, re-plan and re-strategize and God in his infinite mercy crowned his efforts.

Anifowose is cool, calm and he talks less which makes him hear more; he looks less which makes him sees more. All these attributes attracted Anifowose to Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State.

His public service appointment was the first to be announced on July 6th 2014 by Governor-elect, Ayo Fayose as Personal Assistant, Administrations and Special Duties, a position he retained when the governor was inaugurated on 16th October 2014 with the Directorate of Human-capital Development popularly known as “Stomach Infrastructure” as an addendum.

Every Christmas, Easter, Sallah, Month end and New Year are always busy for Anifowose’s Directorate of Stomach Infrastructure. The rate at which his name is being chorused by the poorest of the poor and the downtrodden goes beyond the cosmos.

Every where he walks, he does so imperially and majestically with the crowd of motley accord at his back. At a time, he was nick-named the Atayese of Osoko Kingdom. Anifowose is Anifowose because his name is Sunshine.

An Associate Member of the British GOWAC Institute of Business and Administration, his leadership qualities booms daily to the admiration of his boss, Ayo Fayose, a populist that today sets the pace for the self-acclaimed philosopher kings in the Nigeria political firmament.

To say that his Stomach Infrastructure Initiative sustains the popularity of the Fayose administration in the grassroots is an understatement. He gives without a pause and like the clapping of a mimosa, his generosity is indisputable.

He has been honoured within and outside Ekiti State for times without number. In recognition of his contributions to the development of humanity, the congress of Ekiti Students in the University of Lagos in 2015 declared him as Omoluabi Per Excellence of the Year.

In 2016, the leadership of Junior Chambers International (JCI) honoured him with Youth Icon Award in recognition of his leadership qualities. In 2017, Anifowose was honoured by the Student Parliament of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos as an Icon of Human-capital Development.

A writer with zeal, the board of trustee of the Nigerian Literary Union (NLU) earlier this year, honoured Anifowose as Life Membership of the organization in recognition of his writing prowess which is hidden to many people. Same this year, the Students Union Government (SUG) of his alma-mata, the Ekiti State University announced him as Ambassador of the year 2017.

Sometime, his quietness may annoy you but never mind, he is just being careful not to rush into taking a decision. Without being immodest, let me say very expressly that a man that can manage a combative Ayo Fayose can manage any character anywhere.

At 40, Anifowose is a hero who deserves every accolade a hero deserves. I thank God for him and his wife. Many had died but he’s still alive doing wonders. No one knows how mountain absorbs the heat of scotching sun. God can not be questioned and his words are irrevocable

  • Ekiti 2018: Election ‘Fire’ will consume Fayose, says Fayemi

Adeyeye: Fayose is a cancer that must be removed

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has declared that Governor Ayo Fayose will not be able to survive the heat of the July 14 election.

Fayemi declared that “the coming fire will consume Fayose up to the root” as the progressives are determined to take over power to give Ekiti people governance.

He made the declaration on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti when he visited the leaders and members of the Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM) who have just left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC.

The PAAM group led by former Minister of State for Works and ex-PDP national spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, reiterated readiness to work for Fayemi’s victory at the poll.

Adeyeye described Fayose as a “cancer that must be removed from the body of Ekiti” for the state to enjoy a new lease of life.

Addressing the crowd of PAAM members that came from all the 16 local government areas, Fayemi said they are welcomed in the APC as they will not be treated as newcomers but bona fide party members who will enjoy full privileges.

He described Adeyeye’s joining of the APC as “homecoming” recalling that the former minister served as the National Publicity Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and Afenifere.

The APC flag bearer stressed that the task to rescue Ekiti from impunity and bad governance is a collective one adding that all hands must be on deck to defeat Fayose and his protégé, Prof. Kolapo Olusola.

Fayemi said: “You know when the heat is turned on our friend, you know how he reacts. The coming fire will consume Fayose up to the root.

“Now, Ekiti people have become butt of jokes as people use to ask Ekiti people that how did we get this mad dog and fraudster as the governor?

“The coming battle is about Ekiti liberation; let us chase this mad dog away first. What I have seen here today shows that God is ready to set Ekiti free from bondage.

“We will give everything it will take us and everything needed to achieve it, God will give us.

“We will not use power but we will only use logistics; we don’t need power, we only need logistics and those logistics will make the election to be free, fair, credible and transparent.

“Although he boasts in the open, Fayose is a coward; I only pity the innocent man who will be dumped at the end but we shall accommodate him back at his lecturing job in Ife after the election.”

Fayemi also used the forum to allay the fears of teachers and civil servants that he was coming back for revenge. He promised better welfare package for all categories of workers if elected again.

Adeyeye declared that Fayose will be politically buried on July 14 declaring the readiness of his political structure to work harder to achieve victory at the poll.

He disclosed that members of his political family resolved to work with Fayemi rather than moving to another party because they saw APC as a realistic structure to rescue Ekiti from the suffering and hardship allegedly inflicted on the people by Fayose regime.

Adeyeye said further: “We are serious with this election more than our people already in APC before we came and we are even more serious about this election than JKF.

“Fayose will be buried politically in Ekiti State on July 14, we must uproot Fayose completely because we have been cutting is branches gradually all this while.

“Fayose is a cancer in Ekiti State, we must remove him. Fayose don’t behave like a true Ekiti son because we are not thieves, we are not fraudsters and we are not extortioners.

“Over twelve political parties came to me offering me their governorship tickets but I said this is not a small battle, we decided to join a strong platform to chase away the bull in the china’s shop and that was how we arrived at the choice of APC.

“Fayemi is a man of integrity, he is well educated to the highest level, he is an illustrious son of Ekiti, he is urbane and approachable and we believe we can work with him.

“He is reliable and he is a man we can work with, we decided to work with Fayemi because we believe he will perform well. We have discussed and we believe PAAM members will be treated well in APC.

“In 2014, Fayose came here and begged and said he had changed. If you said Fayose was bad at that time, he is now worse and has become incorrigible.

“But Fayemi is learned, civilized and belongs to the right place. In the coming election, it will be 16-0 against Fayose.”

A patron of PAAM and former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Afolabi Ojuawo, urged party faithful to go back to their wards and local government areas to work for an APC victory.

Ojuawo said Fayemi and Adeyeye are forming a formidable team for victory saying continuity agenda of Fayose is not in the interest of Ekiti.
