    Super Eagles fans set for  feast on AfroSport

    African Qualifiers will be broadcast live on AfroSport and NTA networks, in Nigeria.

    MMS / PC Plus Group, FIFA’s exclusive agency for the FIFA World Cup 2026 African Qualifiers in 41 Sub-Saharan African countries for a free-to-air broadcast, have awarded AfroSport with the exclusive media rights of the competition to the millions of fans across Nigeria, as the team seeks to continue its excellent form following on from its outing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

     AfroSport has also been appointed as Host Broadcaster and together with National

    Broadcaster, NTA Network shall be responsible for producing the Nigeria National Team matches and presenting to the nation.

    With an expanded final tournament taking place in the USA, Mexico and Canada in 2026, up to 10 places are up for grabs, with the winners from each of the 9 groups of six qualifying automatically, with another team having a chance through a playoff. With 8 matches remaining

    to be played Nigeria, next Matchweek will offer two matches, at home against South Africa on 7 June at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, and three days later an away fixture against Benin, to be hosted in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

    AfroSport  throws open broadcast of AFCON 2023   

    The Confederation of African Football (CAF) as title owner and New World Televisions (NWTV) as exclusive Pay-Per-View and Free-to-Air license holder,  have both confirmed that the 34th Africa  Cup of Nations Cup Cote d’Ivoire  2023 , will be aired  to all Nigerians , even as AfroSport has affirmed that it  all matches  will be shown ‘in  its usual practice.’

    Chief Consultant to AfroSport TV, Rotimi Pedro who spoke at length on the importance of free consumption of sports in Nigeria, affirmed the company’s effort in delivering unwavering passion to broadcast AFCON 2023 on free channel

     “ We are here today to make an announcement of where and how Nigerians would be able to consume their passion which is the African Cup of Nations,” Pedro said at a media parley yesterday in Lagos. “The  AFCON comes at the pinnacle of that passion and as usual at AfroSport,  the purpose of our existence itself is our payoff line that suggests that we ‘Champion The Freedom Of Sports’- freedom of sports meaning we believe quite strongly that every premium sports indeed should be available of Free TV.”

    He  confirmed that AfroSport will be the FTA rights holder, and will distribute through NTA, the national broadcaster, and through its Afrosport FTA Affiliate Network partners, including TVC, AIT, STV, Wazobia TV, and Wazobia Max.  In addition, Afrosport has been awarded with a Pay TV license for the Pay-per-View TV rights, with the exclusive authority to licence Pay TV broadcaster, Supersport.

    AFCON which was originally scheduled for June 2023 will kicks-off  in Abidjan tomorrow with the opening game between the hosts Cote d’Ivoire  and Guinea-Bissau.

    The Super Eagles of Nigeria will have to prove their strength against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday by 3pm before facing the host the Elephants   of Cote d’Ivoire on January  18th by 6pm.

    In addition to over 30 Free-to-Air BON TV and Radio member Stations, the live matches can also be enjoyed on Afrosport TV, Channel 730 on the Free TV platform, and free streams on its Vidivu OTT platform which can be downloaded from Google Playstore, and Apple Appstore.
