    AFUED VC seeks security agencies’ support for campus peace

    The Vice-Chancellor of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, Prof. Bayode Isaiah Popoola, has solicited the continued support of security chiefs in Ondo State to ensure peace within the institution and its host community.

    Prof. Popoola made the appeal on Thursday when he led the university management team on courtesy visits to the Police Area Command, Yaba, and the Divisional Police Stations at Enuowa and Funbi Fagun, Ondo.

    While appreciating security agencies for their support and contributions to maintaining peace in both the university and the town, the VC stressed the need for combined and concerted efforts through a multi-dimensional approach to addressing security challenges in the area.

    He emphasised that peace is essential to societal growth, noting that adequate security requires planning, commitment, and synergy among various agencies.

    “We are trusting God that there will be more cooperation to work together as partners in progress. We appreciate your contributions and wish that this relationship be taken to a higher level,” Prof. Popoola said.

    Remarking, the Ondo Area Commander of the Nigeria Police, TY Pyikison, commended Prof. Popoola for his leadership style since assuming office, assuring that the police would not relent in protecting lives and property in the institution and the community.

    Also speaking, the Divisional Police Officers of Enuowa and Funbi Fagun Police Divisions, Komolafe Omoniyi and Maku Adeyemi, pledged to continue partnering with AFUED on matters of security.

    Similarly, the Head of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Ondo, Adebanji Adeoba, and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mrs. F. A. Akinfolarin promised to further strengthen their collaboration with the institution.

    They assured their commitment to sustaining the existing partnership in ensuring peace and tranquillity on campus.

    AFUED honours first lady, monarch with doctorate

    The Adeyemi Federal University of Education AFUED, Ondo, during its first convocation ceremony as a university, conferred the first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, alongside the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Victor Kiladejo, and Toyin Falola, a Professor of African Studies, University of Texas at Austin, U.S with  a honourary doctorate degree award.

    Prominent politician and recently appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Engineer Kayode Olubunmi Ojo, received the award on behalf of the first lady.

    Over 12,000 students were conferred with different certificate awards, with 51 students bagging First Class, 3,090 with Second Class Upper, 6,805 got Second Class Lower, 2,087 with Third Class while 154 got Pass.

    Speaking on behalf of the first lady, after the receiving the honour, Ojo thanked the Management and Members of the Governing Council of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo.

    He counseled the new graduates to put into full use the knowledge they have acquired while studying in the Institution, while charging them not to forget the institution that moulded them.

    The Ekiti born politician assured the management of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo that the University will be incorporated and carried along in the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.”

    Osamaye becomes AFUED fellow, bags distinguished alumni award

    Renowned educationist and gender advocate Dr Seun Bosede Osamaye has been named Fellow of Adéyemí Federal University of Education (AFUED) Ondo.

    A statement by the Registrar of the university, Mrs O.O Fakorede, explained the management board chose Osamaye in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements, professional accomplishments and significant contributions to the field of education.

    The acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr Samuel Akíntúndé said: “It is with great pleasure that we announce the conferment of Dr Seun Bosede Osamaye as a Fellow of Adéyemí Federal University of Education. Dr Osamaye, a highly esteemed Educationist and member of the Governing Council of Federal College of Education, Okene, Kogi State, has demonstrated exemplary dedication to the field of education and has made significant contributions to the advancement of education in Nigeria.

    “In recognition of Dr Osamaye’s outstanding achievements and commitment to excellence, we are also delighted to present her with a Distinguished Alumni Award. This prestigious accolade is a testament to Dr Osamaye’s remarkable leadership, scholarship, and service within the education community.”

    Osamaye expressed appreciation to the management and staff of the University for counting her worthy of such prestigious status of a Fellow of the great institution.

    She accepted the recognition as a call to continue to serve and increase commitment to academic excellence, leadership and service to the community which exemplifies the values of AFUED. 

    As a distinguished alumna, she will continue to serve as an inspiring role model for current and future students, demonstrating the impact that dedication and hard work can have on shaping the future of education.

    In her appreciation, She said: “my Investiture as a Fellow of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, Ondo State yesterday at the 60th Founder’s Day was a huge success. I was conferred as the only woman alongside  six other eminent personalities such as his royal majesty, Oba Ayotunde Olabomi the Aragbiji of Iragbiji,  Hon Dr Abiola Makinde(MHR, Ondo East/West), Dr Oyebade (Federal Commissioner/AFUED Alumni National President), Mr Steve AWOSIKA, Amb. Godson Echegile and Mr Segun Adenipekun SAN.

    I’m grateful to God Almighty for his mercies, I thank the University Management led by the Ag. DVC, Dr Samuel Akintunde for counting me worthy of this honour and I Thank My family, destiny helpers, destiny pillars, mentors, my political associates, career friends and admirers. 

    My life is an inspiration that altruistic service will always gets its due recognition at the right time.”

    Students and university community extended congratulatory messages to Osamaye on the honour and commended her for continued efforts to enhance education and empower future generations. 

    They expressed confidence in her and believed that as a Fellow of the university and a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award, Osamaye exemplifies the values and principles that the University strive to instill in their graduates.
