Ex-Reps aspirant Agba joins push for young women in governance

‎A former House of Representatives aspirant from Cross River State, Martha Agba, has advocated for the inclusion of young women in governance.

‎She joined national delegates at Nigeria’s first-ever International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV), where she represented the interests and voices of young women in governance.

‎The landmark event had the theme: “Shaping Digital Governance: Collaboration and Inclusivity.”

It marked Nigeria’s debut hosting of the globally recognised ICEGOV conference and brought together policymakers, technology experts, innovators, and governance advocates.

They explored the expanding frontier of digital public administration.

‎Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, emphasised that the future of governance must be driven by innovation, collaboration, and the collective intelligence of multiple stakeholders.

‎According to him, digital transformation cannot evolve in isolation, noting that “innovation happening in clusters makes implementation faster and ensures that impact cuts across sectors, communities and demographics.”

‎Agba described her participation as an honour and a strategic opportunity to push for broader representation of young women in governance, particularly in emerging digital policy spaces.

‎She noted that Nigeria’s hosting of ICEGOV signaled a major shift in national commitment to building inclusive, technology-driven public institutions.

‎“This conference demonstrates that Nigeria is ready to take its place in global digital leadership,” she said.

‎“For young women in governance, it opens doors to engage in decision-making processes that shape the digital future.

‎”We must ensure that inclusivity remains at the centre of every innovation we pursue.”

‎She commended the Federal Government and NITDA for creating platforms where diverse voices, including youth and women, can contribute to national and global conversations on digital governance.

‎Agba expressed optimism that the outcomes of the conference would influence transformative policies capable of expanding digital opportunities across rural and urban communities in Nigeria.

‎With Nigeria’s first ICEGOV event successfully held, stakeholders say the country is now positioned to accelerate digital governance reforms anchored on collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity, principles that Hon. Martha Agba remains committed to championing.

    Agba completes Tornadoes move

Samuel Agba has made a surprise switch from Gombe United to Niger Tornadoes ahead of the second round of 2016/17 Nigerian topflight season.

Having missed out on a move to Wikki Tourist at the start of 2016, Agba had a short stint with Nasarawa United.

The forward moved to the Savannah Scorpions before the commencement of the current campaign and has been one of their shining stars.

But he has cut short his relationship with them by signing a one-year deal with the Ikon Allah Boys.

“Please permit me to keep to myself the reason why I decided to move. I just made up my mind overnight and I decided to move,” Agba told Goal.

“I signed a one-year deal at Niger Tornadoes. I guess it’s time to move and it happened. I love the fans of Gombe United but transfers are part of the game and I had to leave.

“I sincerely seek favour from God to do my best for Niger Tornadoes. I will work hard and I pray the results will favour us. The second round will be tough but I believe we have the right group of players and a very sound technical crew headed by coach Abubakar Bala that will lead us to the top.”

We want the identity of these clubs to remain confidential but I’m optimistic that we shall tie up a deal as soon as possible,” Yunus told Goal.

“Sam Agba is an orphan, he grew up with Godwin Obaje so they are like brothers. We couldn’t agree terms with Wikki Tourist that’s why he left before the season started.

“I’m happy with the interest shown by these big clubs to secure my services. I can’t wait to get started but I’ll have to wait till a decision is taken which I think should be within 72 hours,”Agba  told Goal.

Big clubs are interested in me – Agba

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club side, Enugu Rangers forward, Samuel Agba sat with SL10.ng to discuss  his performance last season, the list of clubs interested in his service and his plans for 2015.

SL10: Can you share your experience last season?

Samuel: Yes it was a successful season for me, I started at Kaduna United FC and to God be the glory I ended up at Enugu Rangers and scored nine goals.

Was it easy for you to settle down at Enugu Rangers when you joined them and how were you received when you got to Rangers?

It wasn’t that easy for me but I thank God I was able to settle in well at some point. The welcome I got was awesome. Thumbs up to my team mates especially Emmanuel Daniel,Chinedu Udeagha, Christian Obiozor, Terry Evoh, Ighodaro Osaguona, Christian Madu and Cyril Oriaku for encouraging me and that served as the tonic I needed to propel a good performance week in,week out. I also appreciate the technical crew led by coach John Obuh for the opportunity they gave me.

You were invited to the national U-23 team, do you think you still can make that opportunity count?

For I know with God all things are possible, I can still make it up with the national team.

Going forward, have clubs started showing interest to secure your services ahead of next season?

For sure, some clubs have shown some serious interest but I’ll have to resume at Enugu Rangers first and if truly they want me they’ll speak with my club.

Can you give us a hint of some of those clubs who have shown some interest?

Clubs like Kano Pillars, Bayelsa United, Sunshine Stars and Warri Wolves have all shown interest. Need I mention that some foreign clubs are on my radar as well.

Are you surprised with the interest these clubs have shown?

Not too surprised because it’s important to believe in oneself and I do always and I’m so sure that offers are on the way.

What is your most memorable moment last season?

Of course my memorable moment last season was our (Enugu Rangers) game against Kano Pillars in Kaduna when I scored a thunderous shot from the centre circle.

2015 is just days away, what are your new year’s resolutions?

It’s my year of total increase, be good to people and looking forward to achieve my goals.

    Thanks for the chat

    You are welcome

  • Pillars rejected me — Agba

Scorer of both Kaduna United goals in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Kano Pillars, Samuel Agba, has revealed to SL10 that Pillars refused to sign him two seasons ago.

The big striker was at that time playing for NNL side Spotlite of Katsina and had a trial with the NPFL champions, but was told to wait untill the week nine window for any potential departure before he will be signed.

“After my goal for Spotlite that knocked them out of the Federation cup in Gombe,I was invited for trial. I spent a month with them but I was told they have other strikers in their team and that I should stick around, in the event of any departure in the week nine window” Agba said.

“I left for Bayelsa that same year and at Bayelsa I was released at the start of this season as part of their squad purge. I never truly fulfilled my ambition with the team as I got very little playing time.”

This season Agba has scored four times for Kaduna United, but he rates his second goal in Wednesday’s encounter which he scored from the centre circle after the restart as the best in his career so far.

“I can’t remember scoring a better goal, I saw the goalkeeper off of his line after their goal celebrations, so as soon as we passed to restart the game, I took a gamble and am glad it paid off!”

A product of Moderate Stars academy, Agba belongs to the same football school that produced the likes of Macaulay Chrisantus, Simon Zenke, Amodu Usman and Joshua Obaje to mention but a few.
