The Agbado Youth Forum, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, has hailed the ruling of the Court Of Appeal, Ibadan Division in a suit on succession to the town’s stool.
A statement issued on Friday by the chairman of the forum, Mr. Olumuyiwa Amodu described the ruling as steadfast.
The statement read in part: ” The protracted Obaship crisis saw a significant turning point five years ago when the High Court delivered a landmark ruling. Yet, despite this decisive judgment, a self-proclaimed monarch brazenly defied the court’s orders, continuing to illegitimately parade himself as Oba. The Appeal Court, however, has worked diligently to ensure justice prevails.
”Tragically, amid these struggles, our beloved patriarch, High Chief Anthony Kayode Akinrinade, passed away. In the face of this loss, the Baales, chiefs, elders, youths, market leaders, and all well-meaning indigenes of Agbado united with unwavering resolve to secure the rightful substitution of the late traditional ruler.
”Today, we proudly announce that Prince Akintoye Olusola Akinrinade has been officially recognized by the Court Of Appeal, Ibadan Division on Wednesday, 30th of October, 2024 as the ‘Stand-In’ Plaintiff to continue the legal battle—a fight that is overwhelmingly positioned for victory.”

Amodu added: ”For over 35 years, Agbado Town stood as a beacon of vibrant economic activity, thriving agricultural trade, and communal harmony. Boasting over 147 villages under its jurisdiction, Agbado’s prominence waned, plagued by stagnation and slowed development due to the selfish ambitions of certain individuals lacking moral integrity.
”As we bid farewell to 2024, the Agbado Youth Forum celebrates not only the progress we have made but also the resilience and unity that has carried us through adversity. We thank the Almighty God for His protection amidst provocation and attacks and for preserving our lives.”
